Our condolences to Mel's family. We are so sorry for your lost and grief. We will miss Mel greatly.
Four years ago, our family moved into our home across the street from Mel. He was quick to welcome us as neighbors and he became a good friend. He was always friendly, offering a wave from the chair he would put outside his front door, where he would sit with his dog Mimi. He was always hospitable, hosting neighbors for barbeques in his back yard, and very generous with his time, often blowing snow from our driveway without being asked. We'll miss Mel waving from across the street and the front-yard conversations, the stories of his Army days and career at Champion paper, and hearing about the children he raised and loved.
We pray that God may comfort you, his family and friends, now and through the coming weeks and years and that his memory will always be a blessing. CPF

Hello, I am saddened to learn of Melvin Simpson. I knew Melvin from working at Champion Papers in Hamilton Ohio. It was a pleasure to know him and his many stories about his service experiences and his family! He knew my older brothers from grade school. A good man who will be missed by his family and many friends. Clyde Randall Patrick (Half-Head).
