Frances Barker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Options Funeral and Cremation Services, LLC - Fort Myers on Mar. 20, 2026.
Frances Louise Barker, age 69, of Fort Myers, Florida went peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, March 14, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 29, 1956, in Pomeroy, Ohio. She lived a life defined by quiet strength and unwavering compassion. She was kind and deeply empathetic, and tougher than most people ever realized. No matter what she faced, she met it with grace and resilience, and she did it all without a single complaint. Her presence made others feel cared for, understood, and safe.

She married her loving husband John Barker on April 5, 1986, and together they shared almost 40 years of marriage, parenthood, laughter and love. She spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, aunt, and friend, always giving more than she took and offering help to anyone who asked. She grew up in North Canton, Ohio and was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio. Fran had a career in Human Resources prior to her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Lois Nicoll, her son Jacob Barker and sister-in-law, Sherry Haas. She is survived by her loving husband John Barker, daughter Kelsey Barker, siblings Bob Nicoll (Jan), Keith Nicoll (Marti), Lois Manos (Bill), Nancy Petroff (Craig), brother-in-law Gary Haas, many nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 at Riverside Church, 8660 Daniels Pkwy, in Fort Myers.

Her legacy is one of kindness, courage, and quiet endurance. Those who knew her will carry her example with them always.

Arrangements are under the direction of Legacy Options.
