To Sis, Ruthie and Joe's extended family members, Kathy and I extend our deepest heartfelt sympathy. Joe was an amazing person and together with Elaine's work, the Litvin family became leading and most influential citizens of the Dayton community. I knew Joe through the engineering facet of his career. He was a challenge to work for, but easy to work with. He was the most qualified individual to ever hold the public office he did and he was an exceptional steward of the public trust. On a more person level, I will remember Joe as someone who respected other's beliefs (religions) more that those of us who practice another faith. Very special. He was also quite a traveler and we enjoyed our trips to Europe with him.
I am sorry to have to miss the memorial service as I am still recovering from a bout with the flu. Rest In Peace, Joe. Regards and respect always. Jon and Kathy Reed

I knew Joe through NSPE-OH and considered him a friend. We worked together on various efforts related to our mutual interests in serving the public health, safety, and welfare that come from being registered professional engineers. He will be missed by all that knew him and especially his family.

Sis, I just learned of Joe's passing, and it saddened me very much. He will be so missed by his friends here at OSPE! We often reflect on the wisdom Joe imparted to so many new engineers during his keynote addresses at the Ohio Engineering Certificate Ceremonies and, of course, the time we spent and enjoyed with you both at OSPE conferences. Joe also donated some bridge/structure art and photos to our office a few years back. It really brings a lot of brightness to the office, and we can't help but think of our friend Joe and smile every time we see these pictures, which is daily! Thank you, Sis, for sharing Joe with us. :) He has long been a friend and a true engineering leader!

Sis and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was a good friend and a brilliant mind, and he contributed greatly to the knowledge base of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. He was Vice President of Legislative & Government Affairs when I came on board OSPE many years ago, and I learned a lot in a short amount of time from Joe. He was gracious, tenacious, kind, smart and patient with those around him--all attributes that made him an outstanding leader in OSPE. Then later, he served as the main speaker at our Certificate Ceremonies at the Ohio Statehouse, and he did the impossible--he kept hundreds riveted to their seats as he spoke of the importance of engineering ethics, a potentially obscure subject for nonengineers but he kept everyone engaged. He was a very talented man!
We will miss Joe!
