Elaine Dayberry Obituary

Dayberry, Elaine F.

Dayberry, Elaine F., 82, of Springfield, passed away on December 16, 2024 in her home with her daughter and grandson, with whom she resided. Elaine was born January 17, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of Leroy J. and Dorothy (Wilt) Bohn. Elaine graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1960. Soon after, Elaine became a telephone operator for Ohio Bell and later transferred to Columbus, Ohio where she worked for AT&T. Combined Elaine had 34 years of service. On retirement Elaine cared for her grandchildren, Patrick and Brenna McCombs from their birth forward. They were her pride and joy. Elaine also had a great love for her pets, especially her beloved dog, Kendall. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Dorothy. She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Jim) McCombs; grandchildren, Patrick J. and Brenna M McCombs. She is also survived by her only sibling and brother, Joseph L. (Cathie) Bohn; niece and nephew, Andy (Sunday) Bohn and Katy (Mike) Shaw. Elaine's focus was her family, and she also was involved in the St. Bernard Bereavement Committee for many years. "Jo" as they called her, enjoyed opening up her home to Patrick's friends, cooking, and providing a place for them to be. She was a great support to her family and will be missed dearly. Her brother, Joseph Bohn (Cathie) has been a great help to her. The family would like to thank her lifelong friend, Myra Hoak, for her support to Elaine and Vickie (Misocky) Berschet for her support to all the family. Thanks also to Jenna from Cherish Hospice for her kind care of Elaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 27 at 10:30 am in St. Bernard Church with entombment to follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, 910 Lagonda Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45503 or Clark County SPCA, 21 Walter Street, Springfield, Ohio 45506 in her name.
