Edith Edwards Obituary


Edith Hope Edwards, age 91, of Front Royal, formerly of Fauquier County, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 29, 2009 at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Morris Cemetery in Hume.

Edith was born in Markham, on May 15, 1918, a daughter of the late Willie and Eliza Hackley Haley. She was a domestic worker and member of the Williams Chapel CME Church.

She is survived by her sons, Henry H. Edwards, Jr. of Madison, Samuel Edwards and wife Gertie of Midland, and Robert Edwards of Front Royal; her daughters, Frances Robinson, Mary Bailey and husband Roshier and Betty Lou Edwards all of Front Royal; thirty grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2009 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in her name to Blue Ridge Hospice, 13 W. 2nd St., Front Royal, VA 22630 or Lynn Care Center, 1000 N. Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal, VA 22630.
