Grace DeBlock Obituary

Formerly of Orange County, NY

Grace E. "Betty" DeBlock, age 88, died peacefully on Saturday morning, January 16, 2010, at Pineview Commons in Johnstown, NY where she had resided for the past four years.

She was born May 19, 1921 in Middletown, NY to the late Albert J. and Anna May Everett Sadler and continued to live in the Orange County area until she and her husband of 67 years, Peter DeBlock, retired from their dairy farm in New Hampton and moved to Johnstown in 1974.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and crafts and was an Orange County 4-H leader for many years, as well as a 30-year member of the Ridgebury Presbyterian Church involved in all of their activities. Upon moving to Johnstown, Betty and Pete began traveling the Northeast, collecting and trading antique toy farm tractors and many other antiques. She greatly enjoyed her membership in the River Valley Tractor Club and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church in Johnstown for nearly 30 years.

What a Joyful celebration of the life of my Aunt Betty! She was like a second mother to me in my younger years on the dairy farm. She was a great role model to me and my other siblings in our youth. She was my 4-H leader and taught me a great deal that has benefited me in my life. She will be missed. God Bless
