Peg Browne’s vision, leadership, influence, generosity and hard work helped to create the scholarship program that continues to grow at The College at Brockport today. She has left a special legacy that will benefit students far into the future. She will be dearly missed and long remembered.

I (and all of education!) have lost a dear friend and a supurb, energetic educator!! Peg made a difference in the lives of so many who have known her and worked in the light of her beliefs and goals. Her dynamic influence will continue, and we will be proud to have been a part of that unending legacy to learning. Peg... you are missed and loved!

I first remember Peg as a teacher at the Campus School when I was in the fourth grade. She was a colleague and friend to my mother, Marion and my stepfather William Nestle. I have very fond memories of Peg and Gerry living next door to us on Adams Street, with their poodle, as I recall named Penny. Despite the early deaths of her brother Don and her husband Jerry, she always was an enthusiastic and energized individual and dedicated to her profession as an educator, even post retirement.
Peg maintained contact with my Mom over the years. One of the most memorial times was with Peg and Jeanette D’Agostino Banker when they were at my home in Portland, Oregon. They enjoyed an evening of bar-be-que, conversation and walks down many memory lanes together under the incredible clear evening Oregon sky. It was if they still lived side by side.
In the mid nineties, Peg and others held a lunch, at the Colonial Inn for my sister, Tina and me, when we were in Brockport for my high school reunion. There were so many colleagues of my mother’s and Peg’s and town persons that were such a significant part of our lives during our many years living in Brockport. What an occasion!
I am still grabbling with my own Mother’s death on January 30th and now thinking of Peg only continues to stir the memories of the past. Peg was one hell of life’s contributors to an indescribable number of people.
Sandy, out of all of Peg’s family outside of Gerry, I only knew you and Don. I just want you to know that I share your grief about Peg’s death. As with my Mom, it was inevitable, but it is surely a huge loss and I am thinking of you and yours.

I had Miss Hare in the 3rd grade (1959) in the Campus school and I never forgot her. She was a lovely person and a great teacher. She had spent some time in Germany and taught us many things about it including the song "O Tannenbaum". Strangely, I've lived in Berlin for many years now and have often thought of her and indeed often spoken of her. Because of her, thankfully, I've never drank coca cola, not after she showed us what it does to a tooth in a glass of coke! My deepest condolences to her family. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. I'm sure it was a full and valuable life she left behind. I light a candle in her memory.
