Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. You were greatly missed at Christmas time. It's been over 6 years now and I still hear your voice on the other end of the phone last time we talked. What a blessing that was! But your brothers and their friends all had a great Christmas dinner with me. I know you are now doing God's work and I will continue on to keep your memory alive. So many other Patriot Guard Riders keep your memory alive too. We are all so proud of you. I love you son so much. Keep watching over us.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,850 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

Six years ago tomorrow, your son gave his life for our country. He was deployed with my husband for that tour in Iraq. My husband has and holds memories of your son close to his heart. Please know that Spencer has not been forgotten. We know and are teaching our children that freedom isn't free, and they have been told and will be continued to be reminded of Spencer and the sacrifices he made. May you find some comfort in knowing the significant impact your son made in such a short amount of time. May God bless you and comfort you and may Spencer rest in peace.

Our son Matt was stationed in Bamburg, Germany several years ago. We have him home now thankfully. However, after his Army tour of duty he opted to join the Army Nat'l Guard of which he is a member today. Since he's had a tour already of Afganstan and has now returned again to his us and his family.
We can easily remember the anxieties over his returning to us. We certainly can feel the pain his family has and are still going through. Men like Spencer will always be in our hearts and mind as we lumber through our daily chores. God bless him and keep him. His memory lives on.

Thank you for serving our country and for making the ultimate sacrifice for it. There is no question that it is only because of you, and other brave solders like you, that we are able to live in this great country and enjoy its many freedoms. Although I was not in our military, through my participation in the Patriot Guard Riders I am attempting to show my appreciation and respect for our fallen solders, and to offer my support to their families. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Spencer, but I am remembering

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I knew Spence both before he enlisted and I was with the 3d ACR in which he was attached to when he died. Spencer did everything he could to ensure he was able to ship out to the Army. I remember him sitting in the library of Holbrook HS trying to get all his work done so he could leave over the summer. When he came home from basic, everyone was amazed at how much muscle he put on. It was crazy seeing the boy who left just a few months earlier looking like a man. He was a great person, I was glad to have met him and to have worked with him. Spencer should be epitomized as a Holbrook hero. We were lucky to have Spencer with us.
