July 28, 1918 - June 13, 2013
Resident of Piedmont, CA
Peacefully on June 13, 2013 at the age 94. Dearly beloved wife of the late Mario J. Delucchi, loving mother of Diane Delucchi Goodhue (Neil Bruce Goodhue), adoring Grandmother of Neil Brian Goodhue, cherished aunt of Donald Delucchi (Darlene), Catherine Veretto Sherrer (Gary), Mary Leo (Ron), Dr. Fred Veretto (Dr. Kim Schlack).
Erma was born in Butte, Montana and at the age of two moved to the Bay Area, where she then spent the majority of her life residing in Piedmont, California. She was active in the community serving on many boards and volunteering her time with many organizations and was recognized by the City of Oakland for her civic contributions.
In 1978, along with her husband Mario, and daughter Diane, she purchased the Fox Oakland Theatre saving it from destruction. It currently is owned by the City of Oakland and represents one of the finest restorations of a performing arts center adding to the vitality of the downtown area. Without the family's purchase this treasure would have been lost forever. Erma was always an active participant in the Italian-American community serving as the first woman president of the Italian-American Federation, along with serving as President of the Italian-American League in Alameda, and a member of the Colombo Club Women's Auxilary and The Leonardo Da Vinci Society of San Francisco. She loved music and dance and was a strong supporter of the Oakland Symphony and the Oakland Opera.
The family is especially grateful to her devoted and caring companions and caregivers, Flora Melendres, Norma Hubbard, Evangeline Melendres and Abby Bernardo.
Family and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the Visitation on Thursday, June 20 beginning at 9:30 AM followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM at the Cathedral of Christ the Light at 2121 Harrison St, Oakland, CA.
Committal will take place in the Mausoleum of the Cathedral immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mario John Delucchi Scholarship Fund, c/o The Colombo Club, 5321 Claremont Ave., Oakland, CA 94609
