James Lucas Obituary

James Richard Lucas
Feb 24, 1965 - Feb 16, 2021
Jim Lucas, or Luke as he was otherwise known, passed away February 16th due to complications from early onset Alzheimer's. He fought his illness quietly and bravely for many years prior to an official diagnosis, July 2019. Thankfully his health and spirits were mostly good until these last few months. Covid-19 restrictions forced upon him were a contributing factor to his decline.
Bon vivant, Jim, was a native San Franciscan, St. Cecilia's, St. Ignatius Prep, and Arizona State University graduate, world traveler, world class cook, art collector, SF sports fanatic, Bikram yoga & swim enthusiast, and loyal friend. He collected a lot of friends. Many, many friends. He loved his family, friends, and SF, though in which order one is hard pressed to guess. His dinner parties were legendary where he would regale his guests with extraordinary meals and fabulous stories.
A long career in real estate sales, first residential, then commercial, allowed him to combine work with his best and favorite skill - socializing. Whether it be a round of golf at the Olympic Club, a drink (anywhere), or dinner at Joe's, all provided him the venue to make a deal and have fun doing it. Jim loved his life and lived it to the fullest, until he no longer could.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Mary, brothers, Larry, Christopher & Martin. He is survived by his brother, John (Erika), sister and brother-in-law, Celeste & Dallas Hickman, nieces Katie, Nicole (Rob), Michaela (Justin), nephews Lucas (Alison), Jack, Uncle Jim O'Connor (Pierette), great nieces, Opal, Hayes, Dylan & Dallas, great nephew Rocky, and many cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date when Covid restrictions are lifted. We know this last party for Jim should be open to all who want to join us in celebrating his life.

Way too soon. He wasn’t just a native San Franciscan, he was an Old School Native San Franciscan.
