Marion Tangum Obituary
Marion Mast Tangum (Mimi), born in San Antonio to Charles and Marion Mast on November 20, 1941, died on January 12, 2021, in Saint Augustine, Florida. Mimi loved being a mom and grandmother to her eight grandchildren and delighted in their many activities and performances, whether it be basketball, baseball or dance. A love of travel, food and books filled her days.
Mimi graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, and held a B.A. degree from Trinity University, a Master's degree in English from University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
Mimi's career took her from teaching positions at UTSA and Texas State University to Washington D.C. where she worked first for the Department of Education then for AASCU, where she sought grant funding for public universities around the country.
Mimi is survived by her brother Charles Mast; sister Jackie Mindell; children Rick Tangum, Robyn Gilson and Judith Arsenault; grandchildren Liam, Maura, Hailey, Brayden, Austin, Angelo, Penelope and Audrey.
