Edmond Miller Obituary

Edmond Robert Miller III, a veteran of the Vietnam War in the US Air Force and longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2022.

Uncle Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, was born February 13, 1938 to Edmond Robert Miller, Jr and Mildred LaRoe Stevens. He was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He loved football and played as a middle linebacker for a semi-pro team while attending Baldwin Wallace University before joining the Air Force in 1962.

As a Lt Colonel for the Air Force, Bob was stationed in many amazing locations including Denver, Alaska, and The Pentagon. He spent much of his career with his wife, Mary Nell Nunn after they married on 11/1/1965.

The Air Force recognized Bob for his honorable service with Commendation and Expeditionary Medals for his time in Vietnam among many others. Bob proudly displayed them for his family and friends.

After he retired from the Air Force in 1988, they settled in San Antonio, Texas. He started his second career and worked for the City of San Antonio for 10 years followed by the San Antonio Water System for 5 years. He was very active in the Lions Club and the American Legion. He also enjoyed spending time with his military friends at the Army Retirement Center. Mary Nell and Bob were together until her passing in 1993. Uncle Bob moved to Port Aransas were he stayed at Pioneer RV Park. He loved playing washers and riding in his golf cart. He was there until Hurricane Harvey destroyed his trailer in 2017. He then decided it was time to move back to San Antonio.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, parents and step-daughter. He's survived by a brother-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law, 5 nieces and nephews. His family has organized a memorial service to honor Bob's life and military service, which will be held at the Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home on 11/21/22 at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a donation in his name to the American Legion or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
