Kenneth Sauer Obituary

Kenneth Alan Sauer

Hopkinton, NH - Kenneth Alan Sauer, born January 21, 1947, in Philadelphia to Enno and Marie Sauer, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024. Ken's life was a testament to love, laughter, and devotion to family.

After attending college and teaching in Ohio, Ken embarked on a journey that eventually led him to Atlanta, Georgia. There, he dedicated himself to working with youth in the criminal justice system before transitioning to a successful career in sales and marketing. It was during this time that Ken met the love of his life, Suzie, whom he married in 1979. For nearly 45 years, they built a life filled with unwavering love and companionship, never leaving each other's side.

Ken and Suzie were blessed with two children, Joe and Katie, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to their lives. In 1986, the family settled in Hopkinton, where they became deeply ingrained in the fabric of the community. Besides coaching or assisting various youth sports teams, Ken volunteered at the Antiquarian Society, Rotary and numerous town events.

Nothing defined Ken more than his devotion and love for his family. Whether going on trips together, rarely missing a game or school event or just spending a quiet evening together, nothing was more important to Ken than his family.

An avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman, Ken found solace and joy in nature, often sharing his passion with friends and family. Ken loved to read, particularly history, and his incredible and disarming sense of humor and infectious laughter brought light to every gathering, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ken's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loyal friend, a devoted husband and father, and a fun-loving spirit who touched the lives of many. Ken was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed (except by the fish).

Ken is survived by his children Joe Sauer, and his wife, Jonina of Needham, MA and Katie and her fiancée, John Lombardi of Dover, NH, brothers, Jim and Tom and grandchildren, Jack, Jay and Joelle. Sincerest appreciation to the staff of The Birches, who cared for Ken with such caring and love. A celebration of Ken's life will take place in the spring. Any contributions in Ken's memory should be sent to The Hopkinton Antiquarian Society or the Friendly Kitchen in Concord, NH.
