Ann Young Obituary

Ann Young

Rye, NH - Ann Eastman Young was born in Hanover, New Hampshire, in the wee hours of April 21, 1958. She remained a morning person for the rest of her life, embracing sunrises from New Hampshire to Florida, California and beyond. She grew up with her four sisters, Mom, Dad, and various dogs and cats on a hilltop overlooking the Connecticut river with stunning views of Vermont.

Family time meant skiing, sledding, and skating in winter, sailing, swimming, tennis and beaching it on the Cape in summer. Ann, better known as Annie, was always a beach and ocean lover, as well as an athlete. Another passion was creating music: singing, playing guitar, writing songs and poetry. She had a large circle of friends, near and far, whom she loved dearly.

Annie earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire in English in 1980. Before settling down, Annie lived an adventurous life. She worked as a radio DJ in Portsmouth New Hampshire, an animal trainer in Florida, and a construction worker in Colorado (at Beaver Creek Ski Resort). In 1991, Ann returned to UNH to obtain a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Upon completing her degree, she began a 35 year career as an English teacher. Annie was known and remembered by colleagues and students as a funny, caring, creative, and vibrant teacher.

In 2011, Annie fulfilled a lifelong dream of living near the ocean, and moved to Rye, NH where she continued to enjoy sunrise beach walks. She loved her yearly visits to Florida, California to visit her daughter Heather, and adventures with her beloved boyfriend, Bob. She succumbed to brain cancer at age 66, on April 26, 2024 surrounded by her family and friends.

She is survived by daughter Heather Ann Young, sisters Sandy Price, Wendy Harris, Nancy Horton, and Libby Sullivan, partner Robert Huxley, and she also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and surrogate grandkids.

I love this picture of Annie... what a great smile & joyful eyes! I wish she could have stayed longer with us and she tried so very hard. Annie lived every moment possible with that exuberant, appreciative spirit. She was blessed with love of Family & Friends and a wonderful man; Bob...

I am so sad to hear of Annie´s passing. She was a creative soul and I pray she is at peace now.

Though we very frequently caught up, she always had encouraging words to share.

My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
