Michael Waskiewicz Obituary
Hadley, MA - Michael J. Waskiewicz, 75 years old died on October 26, 2024 while under the loving care of the Fisher Home.
Michael was a lifelong resident in Hadley. He was a graduate of Hopkins Academy and Northampton Commercial College. Living in Hadley there was always work to do on the family farm. He picked asparagus in the Spring, cucumbers in early Summer, harvested tobacco and dug potatoes in the Fall. In addition to farm duties, he retired from UMass as an offset printer. He also worked at Yankee Candle and Hadley Elementary school.
He also enjoyed Polish music, especially the EFO. In his younger days he could be seen twirling his partner to the Connecticut hop, a very fast step that was difficult for some partners, but others totally enjoyed dancing with him.
Michael was an excellent cook. He would browse through recipes, and tweak them to his liking.
Michael leaves behind his sister Leona Chmura, and brothers Edward, Eugene, and Ron, and several nieces and nephews.
Michael had a health issue that limited his mobility. He was proud that he was able to live independently, cooking, shopping, and mowing his lawn.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Edward S. and Helen Waskiewicz.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 1, from 4-7at the Czelusniak Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial at Most Holy Redeemer at 10 am on November 2nd.
Donations in Michael's name can be made to Most Holy Redeemer Church or Holy Rosary Cemetery fund.

I am so saddened to hear of Mike´s passing. I would wave to him as I passed his house on my way home from UMass. Mike and I worked together for years in " the copy room" in Engineering. He always remembered me at Xmas with a box of chocolate covered cherries. I only wished I had stopped to say hi to him more often . I did see him at Cumbies years ago and we were able to catch up. We certainly had alot of laughs over the years at work. Mike was very kind to me .. I will always have a special place in my heart for him. I am very deeply sorry for your loss. I stopped by his house on two occasions and we sat on the porch and he reminisced about his house and farm that was once owned by my great grandparents from Ireland.
