Leona Ruth (Haines) Davis

Concord, NH - Concord NH – It is with great sadness that we announce that Leona Ruth Davis, 95, passed away early in the morning of December 21, 2024 at Concord Hospital due to complications of Pneumonia. She was a resident of the Granite Ledges Community in Concord, NH.

Leona was born in Montoursville Pennsylvania on May 19, 1929 the daughter of Lawrence R. Sr and Dolly (Elliott) Reynolds. Leona was one of four daughters as well as two sons.

Leona graduated from Montoursville, PA High School in 1947 and The Williamsport, PA Hospital of Nursing in 1950 as a staff Nurse. She continued to serve as an RN in numerous capacities throughout her career.

She married Frank Richard Haines (Frank E. and Meda Mae (Marks) Haines) of Williamsport, PA on March 8 1952. The couple had three sons while in Pennsylvania John, Daniel and Richard and a fourth son, Paul in New Hampshire after the family moved to Hillsboro in 1962 due to employment opportunities at GTE Sylvania. Leona pursued her nursing career at Concord Hospital as well as Hillsboro House Nursing Home becoming the Hillsboro Town Nurse in 1975. She continued in that position for an additional 10 years. Leona moved to Concord, NH after her first husband passed away in 1988. Her second marriage was to Richard Davis of Hillsboro in 1998. The couple built a house together on South Street in Concord NH where they resided until Richard passed away in 2020. Leona later moved to John H. Whitaker Place in Penacook then to Granite Ledges in Concord.

Leona was an avid member of the Easter Star, Methodist Church in Hillsboro as well as Wesley United Methodist Church in Concord. She loved her gardens and was truly an artist at quilting. Her family will long enjoy many cold New England nights under one of her quilts. She was a great cook inspiring all four sons to realize the enjoyment of preparing good food for friends. She loved collecting antiques, listening to Opera and had a passion for collecting Sabastian Miniatures amassing a large collection of figurines.

She is survived by three sons John and Daniel of Concord NH, Paul of Wolfeboro NH, two granddaughters, two grandsons, one great granddaughter as well as two of her sisters.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the entire team at Granite Ledges as well as the wonderful staff at Concord Hospital.

A family grave side service will be held in the spring at the Harvey Cemetery in Hillsboro, NH Upper Village where she will be buried with husband Frank and son Richard.

My sincerest condolences, John and Vickie. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Leona for some years but I remember what a nice lady she was when we did visit at Becky's home. I'm so sorry for your loss.
