Ron Haggett Obituary

Ron Haggett

Peterborough, NH - Ron Haggett, 87, passed away Wednesday January 29, 2025 at Scott-Farrar in Peterborough. He was born on March 24, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to Grace and Harold Haggett. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School in which he always shared was one of the best decisions he made as it helped to shape the man he became. Growing up he spent many summers in Boothbay Harbor, ME a place that he stayed connected to all his life.

In 1967, Ron married his wife Ann Kirk Haggett, at Bay Ridge United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, NY. Ann and Ron moved from Brooklyn to Suffern, NY in 1968 and lived there until they retired in 1997. Upon retirement, they moved to Antrim, NH and lived there until moving to Peterborough in November 2023. During his retirement Ron was an active volunteer and familiar face in Antrim. He was a former member of the Board of Selectmen, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Library Trustee and his last role was overseeing the town trust funds. But his greatest accomplishment was the role he played for the library [James A. Tuttle Library] in which he was instrumental in its rehabilitation and expansion. He held a strong belief that a library plays an important role for a town, ensuring that it is a resource for all to access.

Although his passing is a loss for us, we want to share that Ron embraced life fully. He shared his love of life with his family, friends and those around him. He was quick witted, humorous and sarcastic, all traits that made him memorable. As he started to age, he would reflect on his life and always stated that he had lived a long and full life with no regrets.

Ron leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Ann as well as his two daughters; Marybeth Fenton of Lebanon, NH [Patric] and Laura Stafford of Naples, FL, two grandsons; Samuel Fenton of Dover, NH [ Kylee] and Cooper Fenton of Kittery, ME and a great granddaughter, Samantha Fenton. Ron made it no secret about his desire to be a great grandfather sharing with everyone that there is "a certain cache to being a great grandparent".

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. If you would like to do something to remember Ron, we suggest making a donation in his memory. James A. Tuttle Library [ 45 Main St. Antrim, NH 03440] or to the Antrim-Bennington Food Pantry [ antrimbaptist.org /P.O. Box 206 Antrim, NH 03440].
