Arthur Bradway Obituary

Arthur L. "Art" Bradway

Windsor, VT - Arthur L. "Art" Bradway died Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT following a period of declining health.

Born on May 30, 1944, in Rutland, VT, Art was the son of Gordon and Jeannete (Sykes) Bradway. He grew up in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1962. During his high school years, Art was a dedicated athlete and excelled in track and field. In 1961, he became the Vermont State Cross Country Champion, a testament to his determination and strength. Art was well known for his Vespa scooter, that he zipped through town on. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy raising through the ranks to PHC.

On September 23, 1967, Arthur married the love of his life, Jane Bainbridge, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.

Art was a talented photographer who had an eye for capturing the beauty in everyday life. He had a passion for travel and enjoyed many memorable vacations, including visits to the Grand Canyon, Disneyland, and Washington State. A lover of nature, Art found joy in simply watching the deer in the park near the Vermont Veterans Home.

He was a member of the American Legion, Post 25 in Windsor. Music was another of Art's great loves, and he actively participated in all the music programs at the nursing home where he resided in his later years. He was also an avid sports fan, with a lifelong appreciation for baseball and football.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; his sons, Arthur G. Bradway of Herndon, VA and John Bradway and his wife, Teri of West Windsor; and his beloved grandson, Devon Beland of Hartland, who was truly the "salt of his earth."

A service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home, 325 North Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
