Northampton, MA - It is with profound sadness that the family of Mary Caitlin May, 39, of Northampton, announces her passing on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Northampton on August 8, 1985, to David N. May and Linda F. (Oliver) Binney. She was raised in Easthampton and Ashfield, MA, graduating from Mohawk Regional High School in 2001. She graduated with an associates degree from GCC in 2002 and continued her studies at UMass, majoring in Biology.
Mary worked at ServiceNet in Northampton as an Outreach Coordinator. She loved her job there and was passionate about advocating for the clients she served. Before that she worked for Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters for many years, in several capacities, but the job she loved most was managing the King Street store, where she made many longtime friends.
Mary was a brilliant young woman with many passions. She made beautiful jewelry, loved music and had a great sense of humor. She was an empath who cared deeply about the well being of others. She will be dearly missed by many.
Mary is survived by her loving parents, David N. May and Linda F. Binney, her stepfather Roy Piascik, many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by many friends whom she considered her "chosen" family. (You all know who you are)
Services for Mary will be at a later date to be announced. DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON has been entrusted with her services.

We at Shelburne Falls Coffee were so lucky to have had Mary as a vital member of our team. She blessed us with her wonderful spirit, and made our lives better every day, personally and professionally. Our condolences to her family and everyone who knew her!

Lots of good memories of chatting with Mary at Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters years ago when I used to stop in there almost daily. I was happy to reconnect with her if only just briefly just before she left her post there and I am so saddened to read this news. May her memory be a blessing.
