Joseph Gagliardi Obituary

Joseph D. Gagliardi

Hudson, NH - Joseph Dominick Gagliardi, 88, a longtime resident of Hudson, New Hampshire passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Born in Gardner, MA on March 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Aida (Rossi) Gagliardi of Athol, Massachusetts and was a proud graduate of Athol High School Class of 1955. He furthered his education at Syracuse University and Lowell Technological Institute in Lowell, MA where he earned degrees in engineering and business administration. An Air Force Veteran, Mr. Gagliardi served four years and held the rank of Airman First Class. He was honorably discharged in 1961.

Joe began his career after graduation as a General Electric apprentice in Pittsfield, MA for two years before his enlistment.

After his discharge he returned to General Electric in Syracuse, New York. He returned to Massachusetts and was employed at Trans-Sonics in Burlington, MA as an Engineering Assistant and Project/Product Engineer. While working at Trans-Sonics he assisted in the development and fabrication of fluid gauging systems for NASA's Lunar Excursion Module and for the Saturn V rocket as well as for military and commercial ships and offshore drilling rigs. He was very proud of his work on the space programs, including the Apollo/Lunar Module fuel gauging system hardware that went to the moon, where it remains for eternity.

He also worked for Foxboro Company designing control consoles for shipboard cargo and ballast processes. Joe was employed as Quality Assurance Manager, Engineering Manager and Contract Administrator for RdF Corporation in Hudson, NH. He founded QA Associates of New England in 1992 specializing in the development of quality assurance systems for numerous client companies in New England. He worked as an Independent Contractor/Technical Specialist for Lockheed Martin Company, Elbit and for Raytheon. He retired in 2013.

In his leisure time, Joe loved building and engineering circuit board projects and woodworking projects in his tool filled workshop. He could fix almost anything. Joe and his wife enjoyed visits to many locations in this country and in foreign countries and attending reunion functions with the USAF Radar Sites Veterans where he found long lost friends. Joe was a big sports fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Members of his family include his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia E, (Henry) Gagliardi, his beloved sons, Charles T. "Chuck" Gagliardi of South Weymouth, MA and John K. 'Jack' Gagliardi of Hudson, NH; his sister, Anna Beane of Wilmington, DE; brothers-in-law, Robert Henry of Old Greenwich, CT, Thomas Henry of Athol, MA and James Henry of Orange; many special nieces and nephews and four special 'granddaughters', Brittany Gregory, Hannah vonOldenburg, Sarah vonOldenburg and Olivia vonOldenburg and a special 'great granddaughter', Aurelia Gregory. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Charles Beane.

A period of visitation will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Saturday, January 31st from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Road in Nashua at 11 o'clock.
