To Jonathan's family and friends just to let you know that on this Memorial Day, as it has been since, Jonathan will be remembered for the life he shared with each one of us, personally and professionally. His dedication to family, friends, fellow Soldiers and to his duties as a leader amongst our troops is testament of his character. We can only hope that you may find in these simple words the gratitude we continue to have of being able to share part of our lives with him, and know that until our own moment comes, he will always be remember...

To the family of Sgt. Jonathan N. Hartman:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

May God bless and keep Sgt. Jonathan N. Hartman. Tonight as we were reading our bedtime stories, the one from the WES library has this fine solider's picture and dedication for his service to his country. What a wonderful lesson to our children to thank and pray for those who serve to defend peace on earth.

Thinking of you today and always, Jon. It's hard to believe it's been four years. Cayden looked at your picture the other day and said "Mommy, that's Jon, that's who I was named after and he is a hero". He is exactly right. You are a hero to us all.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jonathan, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

Sincerely,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

As part of our church's Memorial Day services I received Sgt Hartman's name. I am eternally grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of Sgt Hartman and the many others who have sacrificed, sometimes the ultimate sacrifice, for me and their country. We owe them all a debt which can never be compensated, but we can show our appreciation by attempting to preserve those things for which they died. God rest his soul and bless his family.

I had my first beer with Hartman in Munich, Germany at Octoberfest in 2002. He also prevented me from being left behind there when there was an argument between a friend of ours and myself, he took his keys from the ignition and demanded that i get back in the car. I will always remember that. He will be missed.

i never new sgt. hartman but his name caught my eye, because he in fact had the same name as me. It made me think about the people who go out of the country to protect our country and helped me realize that they in fact are just like me. They have feelings, wishes, and in some cases even the same name. I am a senior in high school, possibly going to embrey riddle aero school in daytona beach florida looking forward to being a pilot. My life is about to change significantly and because of the oportunities that i have been given in this country and that i still will be recieving, i would like to thank sgt. jonathan n. hartman and every other soldier for what they have done for me and are still doing. Thank you.
Sincerly, Jonathan Hartman of Santa Rosa, CA

All of the Aggressors know who I am. I am Eric Mullins. I was SGT Hartman's loader. I was with him the night prior and the whole day of the 17th. Words cannot describe the pain I go through everyday knowing what I know. Being my Gunner, SGT Hartman always had an answer for me. I could not ask for a better boss. I am now an NCO and try to base my leadership skills after SGT Hartman because there is no other like him. He will be greatly missed. I find myself not knowing what words to use to describe my feelings.

There is one thing that I would like to do and that is get in contact with SGT Hartman's family. If anyone can e-mail me with any iformation I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello Judy,

I don't know if you remember me. I was Jon's girlfriend right before he went into the Army. Today is May 11, 2005 and I just found out about Jonathan's death. I am so sorry that I didn't know. I feel horrible about not being at his funeral. Jonathan made a huge imprint on my life. He was able to get me through some of the most difficult times I have ever experienced. He put extreme passion into every single moment of his life and taught me how to do the same. I have missed him greatly over the years and I think of him often. I would love to talk to you.
