Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Scott Eugene Dougherty US Marine Lance Corporal.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Scott, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron (a dear friend) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

I want to thank all of you who have supported our family, especially my brother Keith. I respect his courage and dedication to his son. He is a great dad. He and Scotty were so close and shared so much. Even though being seperated at this time, it is wonderful to know that God's plan for us allows us to be with our families forever. That is such a reasuring truth that brings great comfort to my soul. I love you Scott, I love you Nichole, I love you Keith. Thanks for being such a good example to all of us.

As an active member of the U.S. Navy. I am constantly reminded of the dangers, the sacrifices, and hardships we all endure, but every single person that pays the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom that we as Americans enjoy every day, I am both saddened and supremely proud of their great love for country and humanity. To you that are survived my heart and unending gratititude go out to you, and although I never knew your son, I do know that he is a real HERO!

Hey man...hopefully u remember me...well i may have only met you a couple times but it was good enough for me. Your a good person i came into the house and greated me with a firm handshake just like any marine would. Since that time u had an effect on me im not quite sure how, but you did. I want to thank you for that and for keeping our country safe your a good person and the world needs more people like you in it. I just want to say thanks and you will be missed.

I want to thank everyone for the wounderful things they said. Ive had a lot of support from his family here, and his Marine family. I am very proud that he joined such a family. I enjoyed the talks of the guys from his base. I'll miss going there. Scotty and i talked after every mission while he was over there. His first trip he was 18. Yes young but a man now. He has done more for his country than i could ever do in my whole life time. I always told him i wish i was there with him. Not just in heart and sprit. We laughed and had good times and when i tell you he was proud to be there. Even being shot at every day and night, and boomed even as we talked on the phone. His sprit was high. Hearing his voice and laughter you could not belive where he was.I'll have peace and closure, when god opens his arms and lets me hold Scotty in mime.Yes i miss him very much as his sister. He is with us always.I miss all the road trips too.Scotty you have a lot of family up there with you too. Now you can meet the ones you didn't get to meet. See ya on the other side. Love dad.Semper FI!!!!

I am writing this on July 6, 2005. Scotty was my nephew. He was a funny, skinny, fun loving young man that was totally dedicated to his life in the Marine Corps. As I have said in the past, he was my nephew until the first time he was called "Marine" by his commanding officer at graduation from Parris Island. He then became my brother. I miss him a great deal and I am proud of his service to us all. Goodbye my brother. Semper Fi. I will see you on the other side. I love you...Dan

My son was a fellow Marine with your son at training in NC. My son was discharged because of medical reasons before graduating. He lost track of many of his fellow Marines over the last 2 years. My son came home this evening and informed me that he found out about your son being killed in the line of duty. He was very upset. He knew your son. They bunked together in field training and went out on leave together. My son remembers Scott and told me tonight he shared some good times with him. As a parent I just wanted to share my deepest regeret for your loss, and as a citizen of this country I just want you to know that he, his fellow Marines, and all the other service men and women who have given their lives will always be remembered by us. God bless your family.

AN AMERICAN MARINE

Sacrafice of Belief

Why is peace born of war

Why is pride born of sorrow

Why is life born of freedom,

and why are somethings worth

dying for

It's because of a belief that

a beacon of light in a harbor

for all to see, a symbol of

freedom to entice the minds of

the oppressed, the confined,

and the weary

That this is a country of hope

and opportunity, where freedom

has not come cheap

But where the price to pay is

not that of money

But is that of altamate scarafice

to keep hold of beliefs of freedom

and liberty, so that the world will

see, that America will not stray

For this is the price they have paid to keep

AMERICA THE LAND OF THE FREE

God speed to all you have served this Union

Rachelle Thompson

You were so wonderful

Deffinately unforgettable

A personality so powerful

Made me smile from ear to ear

Told me things you wanted me to hear

Caught all my fallen tears

And made me forget my biggest fears

My bestfriend...

I hold you close to my heart

This is your end...

But its my start...

Without you,

Life got a little harder to walk through...

I think God just needed....

An angel that could help pour out the rain..

An angel to help understand lifes' gain.
