I am one of the Marines that served in Iraq with Zapp. He always kept us motivated and kept us smileing when things got hard. He was an outstanding Marine and person. I can still remeber the day that we found out about Zapp like it was yesterday. I am very sorry for your loss we all miss him very much.

i`m in awe of these americans who willingly put their lives in harms way for us. i owe everything to cpl. zapp and all who serve in our military. you, cpl. zapp are now under the wing of our heavenly father and my promise to you is to live a life worthey of your sacrifice! i`m humbled by you. god bless your family and hopefully someday i can thank you as i enter the gates of heaven.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

There are no words that could express how much my heart goes out to you all for the loss of Thomas. I know of the pain it is to lose a family member over in Iraq, as I lost my lil brother, Shayne Cabino, just over a year and a half ago.
Thomas's story has touched me so deeply, and I felt I needed to convey that to his family and loved ones. You are all in my thoughts and prayers from this day on.
This world has lost another great person, yet gained another great hero.

It is with deep sadness that I ask "T,Js." family and friends to accept the offer of my most sincere and heart felt condolences. I hope that you know your loss is shared and mourned by many grateful Americas. Most of whom you have not met and in all probability will never meet. Our nation sincerely appreciates the sacrifices made by your Marine patriot.
Freedom is not free; it is paid for by out heroes and for those who fight for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know! This brave Marine fought and died for our freedom.
I know the pain parents feel when they loose a child. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. It is a pain that is all consuming. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am the Hospital Corpsman that was with him, and unfortunately was not able to save him. I pray for his whole family everyday, for God to give them Strength and Comfort. I pray the his family will forgive me, for what I was unable to do. I only new him for a short time, but being with the Marines is a brotherhood. It doesn't matter who you are as long as you are a Marine or a Navy Doc. I wish I had had a chance to get to know him. I pray that he is standing inside the Gates of Heaven smiling, and waiting of his family and friends to join him.

I am Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of this Fine Young Marine, Lance Cpl. Thomas J. Zapp, two years ago today.
The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

Like your son, Phillip was a believer and believed in His God and Country without hesitation. We share your pain and thank our God for the time we were able to parent these young men. God has a prupose that we don't always fully understand. We are proud of our military. I leave for Iraq on the 17th of Oct, I return to a job incompleted, I have been there for 15 months. He too was a proud Marine, they all are and rightfully so. They place their lives on the line as so many have. Thomas Zapp was such a fine young man. After going through the names and faces of our casualties in this War on Terrorism, I was reminded of the beautiful service for TJ at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. People told me some wonderful stories about him; especially his colleagues from Kroger and his friends and teachers from school. My thoughts and prayers are always with the family who are wonderful people. They represent a fabric of America that these brave service people come from. Thank you for allowing me to share that moment with you last year. TJ is an American hero.

I didn't know T.J. personally, but the minute my eyes saw his picture in the paper I knew he was special.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of this young man, and am reminded of his devotion to his country daily as I drive by Houston National Cemetery on my way to work. I know exactly where he lies, and daily I turn my head to the markers and say a special "thank you" to all who have paid the ultimate price. May the Lord forever hold T.J. and the others in His loving arms.

I didnt really know zapp that well. i remember that i was on duty with him about 2 months before he went to iraq. then on Nov. 10 the c.o. told us that zapp had died in iraq. god bless his family

The loss of my wonderful 20-year-old nephew in Iraq breaks my heart beyond repair. It hurts so much to watch my brother in such despair over losing his beautiful son. But the only consolation that keeps our family going is knowing that TJ died for his country, and he is a hero to us all. TJ was a wonderful young man. He was one of my youngest cousins. He will always be a hero. He will be greatly missed by his whole family. I just want to let you know that I am honored to have stepped on the same baseball field with an American Hero. I played baseball with T.J. for 3 years at Elsik. He was a great person and a great ball player. I am glad to have known him and to have played ball with him. You and all of T.J.'s family members are in my prayers.

I'm sorry for the loss of TJ, but I am thankful that I was apart of his life, even if only for a short time. Even though he has gone on, he will remain with us, and we will see him again one day. He taught me a lot, and I will never forget him. I've been praying for you and for all who remain fighting.

God bless all of you. I am so glad that I had the chance to meet with you tonight and tell all of you in person how I felt about TJ. All of you are so warm, encouraging and comforting. It is the same feeling that I always recieved while going to school with Thomas. I will keep you in my prayers, and thank you for allowing such a great friend like Thomas to be a part of my life. Thomas, with all of my heart, thank you for your friendship, encouragment and love. I am so proud of you for what you did for our country. Thank you for also being the best friend to one of my best friends, Spencer. That boy loves you so much. I will never forget you.

TJ was one of my seniors in the Elsik Class of 2003. I first met TJ at one of Sam's baseball games during spring break. He was there to lend moral support and we struck up a conversation in the stands. I will always remember his beautiful smile and positive demeanor. That he was able to make such a commitment to himself and his country at such a young age humbles me. My love and prayers are with him and each of you.
