GREGORY STEPHEN PETERS
Gregory ("Greg") Stephen Peters of Houston, Texas passed away in the early morning of November 3, 2025. He was born in Houston, Texas on March 11, 1965, to Jerry and Carrie Peters.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jerry and Carrie Peters, brother Timothy ("Tim"), nephew Matthew, niece Megan, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and other beloved family members, as well as the love of his life, Diana.
Greg grew up in Houston, Texas. He attended and graduated from Elsik High School in 1984. He participated in the performing arts during high school in both choir and theater arts. Greg held a deep abiding love for his country, and after high school he joined and proudly served in the United States Army in Anniston, Alabama.
Greg was a man rooted in his Catholic faith, which he always kept at the center of his life. He applied his Catholic Christian values as a source of light and hope to others through all facets of his life, and to all he encountered. Greg served in the Knights of Columbus Councils #7782 and #4204 and actively participated in numerous Catholic and Christian ministries. He attended an ACTS retreat in 2011 where he felt the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Greg shared his faith and brought hope and healing to others through his true presence, prayer music, and through the written word, and pictures of others and of God's perfect landscaping. He shared these gifts, and his love and faith through singing, writing music, and performing with his most cherished friend Mark Williamson with the Sounding Hope Ministry. Together they shared the hope of God through the instrument of music, and in 2016 "Breaking Through the Darkness" album was released, with Greg featured as a special artist. Mark and Greg also performed together on numerous occasions, including a special album release concert to celebrate the Sounding Hope Ministry mission and the release of the album. Greg also wrote countless beautiful and heartfelt poems based on faith, hope, and love. He also enjoyed taking pictures that captured the beauty of this world and beyond, especially majestic sunsets. He also loved spending hours listening to and being inspired by his extensive music collection comprised of his favorite artists and songs. Greg was also active in and also faithful with supporting others working through a higher power toward a life of sobriety with the Labranch Street AA Group for over 38 years.
Additionally, Greg was a dedicated Houston Astros and Texans fan. He loved attending Astros games with the family and dressing in full Astros fan attire to show his team spirit. He also loved attending live music events, especially Christian artist concerts, and other venues, such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Greg also had favorite spots he frequented with family and loved ones, such as the Lafayette Cajun Seafood. There he and the family often celebrated special occasions, and enjoyed great food, good music, and dancing.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for all of the medical treatment providers and caregivers who treated and supported Greg through the years for their true compassion and care. The family is also grateful for the genuine kindness provided to Greg through Hospice over his final days as he journeyed home.
