Charles Scott Landram, a proud United States Marine, devoted husband, loving father, and faithful son of God, entered eternal rest on November 9, 2025, at the age of 97.
Born on September 23, 1928, Charles was a third-generation Houstonian, the beloved son of Charles and Thelma Landram. His life reflected a deep and abiding love for his Catholic faith, family, and country.
He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1947 and went on to earn a degree in Economics from the University of St. Thomas.
Charles proudly served his country in the 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division during the Korean War, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a frostbite survivor of the Chosin Reservoir campaign, one of the most grueling and heroic battles in Marine Corps history. His courage, endurance, and steadfast spirit remained with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Charles built a successful career in business as a real estate broker, building homes in the Richmond and Cypress, Texas areas. He later became President of Tri-City Oil Company of Houston and co-founded Geo-Tech Environmental of Houston with his friend Mike Harold.
Charles had a great personality and was always the life of the party. His sense of humor, kindness, and charm drew people in wherever he went, and his joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
A man of deep Catholic faith, Charles was an altar server as a boy at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, later, a daily communicant and usher at St. Ann's Catholic Church, and later served faithfully as an usher at the Co-Cathedral of the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Wilson Landram, his son, Charles Scott Landram, daughter-in-law, Lynda Landram, grandson, Joshua (JD) Landram, sister, Mary Elizabeth Landram and his parents, Charles and Thelma Landram.
He is lovingly survived by his children: Alisa Lawrence and husband David Lawrence,Mary Fretz and husband John Fretz,Sarah Canalito and husband Bo Canalito, Susan Douglass and husband Mike Douglass, John Landram,Amy Widener, and Bob Landram and wife Vanessa Landram.
He was a proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He gave the best Bear hugs and always enjoyed his ability to crank out push ups well into his 90s.
Charles was nourished spiritually by his daily rosary and sacramental life, always praying for his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dominic Village, the Warren chapel on November 29th at [time], followed by private interment.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Charles at St. Dominic Village. Your kindness, love, and compassion toward our dad will be cherished and never forgotten.
