Frank Leon DeNina, age 89, of
Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 21, 1936, in
Houston, Texas, to Mary and Leon DeNina.
Frank grew up in Houston and attended All Saints Catholic School, where his strong faith was first nurtured. He later graduated from St. Thomas High School and went on to attend the University of Houston.
At the age of 18, while working at the Minimax Grocery Store, Frank met the love of his life, Ruthie DeNina. He married Ruthie in June of 1955, after she converted to Catholicism, and remained deeply devoted to her for 66½ years, living a true love story rooted in faith, loyalty, and devotion.
Frank preferred hard work and responsibility, spending much of his time working at Taylor Forge before beginning his career at Houston Supply, where he worked for many years. He later joined National Flange, where through dedication and leadership he eventually became president and owner of the company. After retiring, Frank found his true calling working alongside his son, Russell, to help establish RAC Materials, where he worked for 40 years and remained actively involved until his passing.
Frank was a devout man of faith and a faithful servant of the Lord. He was a true family man who would do absolutely anything for his family and friends. He was an involved and loving father and grandfather who took great pride in being present for those he loved. His greatest blessings called him Granddaddy.
Frank was a devoted and proud member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church community, faithfully attending Saturday evening Mass, where he could always be found sitting in the front row. He took special pride in his personal parking space, a small detail that brought him joy and reflected his deep connection to his church community.
Frank is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruthie; his son, Russell; and his brother, Leon DeNina. He is survived by his son, Aubrey DeNina; his daughters, Cheryl Nimtz and Lisa Hymel; his brother, Jack DeNina (Lupe); his grandchildren, Hunter Nimtz, Lauren Hymel (Thomas Turner), Ashley Hymel, Brooke Hymel, Tiffany DeNina, and Clint Bruney (Megan); his great-grandchildren, Gia Cordova, Nikolas DeNina, and Braxton Bruney; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Frank's legacy of faith, love, generosity, and selflessness will live on through the many lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that he is finally reunited with his Honey, embraced once again in the love they shared for a lifetime.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Please join the family immediately following the Funeral Mass for a Celebration of Life at the church. Lunch will be served.
