My mom, Christina Heffelfinger dated you, when she was 14 I think, but she told me that you were amazing and that you were everything to her. Thank you soo much for taking care of my mom. By the way this is her daughter, Abigail.

Mikey,
After Ryan tackled me in the yard this morning, he immediately asked me, "Where is Uncle Mike". As hard of a question that is to answer to an almost 3 year old, it is even harder for me to understand why it had to be you. I know you really can't read any of this and I don't know why I am sending it... but I guess it is human nature to need a way of expressing emotion to the loved one you miss in any way possible. We miss you, Mikey... and you are in our thoughts every day.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free, remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Please accept my deepest sympathies. We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow. No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.

Hey Mikey...what's up?
Welp, I recently moved back to Florida and ya' know what? In the long run, I feel like it's for good this time.
I moved back on Nov. 15th (but I'm sure you know that); and a little while before that I began thinking about "The House". And no matter how "loud" it got, your humble "quietness" would always even things out.
Dad and I recently got our attunements in Reiki; and I know you were there when that was occuring, during the 21 day process after and even now a few times since I've come back to Florida.
I just wanted to stop in and say hi; and just like "The House" you are welcome here anytime Mikey.
Love you, man.
Have a positive day.
Be Well
Kris

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Michael, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Today I found myself thinking of Mikey. Six years after September 11th, I was reminded of how the world has changed, how heros were made, and also how friends were lost. Mikey was just that, a friend, and a hero to me, I'll never forget.

Today, it may be six years later, but this day SPECIFICALLY still feels like yesterday.
I remember what I was doing when I got "the call" from Kate on my cell. I was away at college, just as I was when 9/11 happened. It was PRETTY late, I think it was around midnight (although, midnight didnt USED to be all that late). :o) Anyway, it was "late", but I was at college (so I was still awake lol). Sitting at my computer desk doing a project for school. I never really put two and two together before now, but actually, RIGHT before Kate called me, my desk was right infront of my window, and in the moments before she called me I was just sitting there staring out the window.
My heart SUNK when she told me. Though, Im not totally sure how much I really need to be typing any of this, as you know my thoughts every day, and are NEVER gone. :o)
I heard the song "Calling All Angels" last night, and I actually PURPOSELY listened to The Brews, NOFX. Just thought I'd let you know.
I'll be seein' ya
Thank you...for EVERYTHING.
Love you "Mikey"

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Dear Cohen Family,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss and sorry it took so long for me to write. I lived up the street and played many neighborhood football and basketball games with Mikey. Even though I haven’t seen him in nine years I miss him. I served in the Navy for six years aboard a submarine and was in the Persian Gulf area several times but the job I did pales in comparison to the bravery and courage that Michael showed. His sacrifices for freedom and liberty around the world will never be forgotten. I know this world is a better place for the brief time we had Mikey hear.

Mikey,
I didnt even know there was a guest book until today. I can't even begin to explain how hard it is here without you. Every hour that passes makes my heart heart even more because its another hour further from the last time i saw you or heard your voice. We received your things that were in storage in Hawaii. Everything in those boxes were so you. I dream about you often. I wish you could see my room and how I have reminders of you everywhere. I made a scrapbook that I think you would be proud of. I have a set of your cammies hanging on the wall above my head. I wear your clothes and listen to the music you stored on your mp3 player and just cry. I never take the locket with your ashes from around my neck. Your spirit is everywhere around us... but for some reason its not enough. It isnt fair that I will never be able to hug you again or party with you or just get advice from you. You were my best friend... my brother... and now my guardian angel. I love you and miss you so much it hurts. Watch over all of us and help us get through this. Your scholorship has been growing amazingly! There are a lot of kids that are going to benefit from it. We are going to Hawaii when your brothers from Iraq come home for a memorial service in honor of the fallen. I can't wait to meet everyone and hear stories about you. Semper Fi, Mikey... we are all proud of you.
Love always,
Your Sister

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cohen,
May I offer my condolences to you both and your family upon the passing of your American hero son, Michael, in Iraq in November.
Please know that other Americans share in your loss and are concerned. It is my prayer that our Heavenly Creator will grant you all an extra measure of peace, comfort, and strength during this difficult time.
May Michael's legacy of bravery and devotion to our country and its safety be a source of pride to his family, an inspiration to his peers, and forever remembered by a grateful nation. Michael truly was "Siemper Fi"!
Sincerely,
with deepest sympathy,
