To the friends and family, I am so sorry for your loss! My youngest daughter was over during the year of 2005. She drove the HETTs - out of Tikrit. I am grateful that she returned, and my heart cries for those that didn't. Our country lost a good man on January 13th, 2005.

We never lose the ones we love, and the joys shared are never really gone.Peace to soothe you, Grace to hold you, Love to comfort you. My oldest son left for the army April 6th 2009. When he got there he was taken to a room for an hour. Confused and scared, a chaplain walked in to tell him that his father had passed. I deeply feel your grief. Our children are our lives no matter how old they are. May you find peace, comfort and strength through the Lord and know that your son did what he thought was right. May his shining light warm you. I am so very sorry for your loss. You are all in my prayers!

In Memory of Brian ~ (Debra Estep)

January 19, 2009

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Brian, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Brian and I were in 5th grade together, many moons ago and am saddened to hear of his passing. He was in fact my very first "boyfriend". I am so proud of him, to know he served our country! His big brother Kevin used to pester the two of us so much. His name popped into my head today and on a whim I googled his name to see what I might find. As soon as I saw his picture I knew it was him, it's been 27 years but I knew. My prayers are with his family always!

To the Family of Sgt. lst Class Brian A. Mack:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son (SFC Brent A. Adams) 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

To the family of Sgt. 1st Class Brian A. Mack.

I can only imagine the pain you are feeling right now. I also have a son in Iraq and plead with God to let my son return home safe and sound. Not only my son, but also all those other sons & daughters, husband and wives, who are now living their lives, not knowing whether tomorrow will be another day for them.

I hold to the hope that if I were to lose my son, I have the assured expection of the resurrection promised by Jesus at John 5:28&29. I and many others look forward to the time when Swords will be beaten into plowshares and spears into pruning shears and war will be learned no more....Isaiah 2:4

Be assured that we will have the opportunity to embrace our dead loved ones again.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

Rick and Barbara, it has been a very long time, I hope you remember me (Shannon Thomas). Brian and I grew up together, me living across the street and you cared for me when my mom was working. We lost contact when my family moved to Utah. I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Brian, please accept my deepest condolences. My mom (Kathi) came across the info and we were,to say the least, stunned and devastated. I wish I had known sooner this seems so after the fact. SFC Mack and I served to gether in the 6th RTB, Florida phase of Ranger school. We exited an aircraft together many times and sat at the PI point many a long hour. He was an incredible NCO and leader. I had absolute trust in SFC Mack as a jumpmaster. And I came into the RTB world from "mech-land." He was one of the few NCOs who took his oath of training me and the many Ranger students he led to heart. He always trained, supported and never judged.

Hopefully, I will meet him on the "Big DZ".

A Warrior... A Leader... A Champion... Brian Mack.

I observed these qualities and more early in Brian's life. I was his Little League Coach (Downs-Spitalny Dodgers-1980), Admirer and Friend. That was a very special experience for me coaching Brian (All-Star Catcher and Pitcher). We went on to earn a tie for 1st Place after completing the first half of the season with only one win. Brian, Richard Fink (DPS Patrolman) and cousin Bobby McGivney played major roles in our second half sucess. Now I never really confirmed that Brian and Bobby were actually cousins, but it never mattered to me. You see we were a couple players short of a team before the season actually began when Brian suggested to me we pay a visit to Bobby's home. He convinced me to look up Bobby, not that he was the best ballplayer in the neighborhood, but that he was a tough kid. After meeting Bobby, I always listened to what Brian had to say, regardless of when. Listening at practice, during a game or while sitting around wondering where this "Little Man" came up with some of his material. It was so scary when a friend informed me that Brian Mack was no different than myself at the age of 12.

I did at the time and always have appreciated the "special things" the kids taught thier 19 Year Old Rookie Coach. Brian stood head and shoulders above the group with his Leadership, Competetiveness, Athletic Ability, Toughness and most of all his Bravery. Brian and I discussed early on what it would take from him to turn this team around. Without hesitation he accepted my challenge and showed his effectiveness as a True Leader.

Brian, Richard and myself went on to compete in the Little League All-Star Tournament held at Holiday Park School. Again Brian's personal qualities had a positive impact on his new teamates and coaches.

I personally went on to play eight years of competitive ball and always applied the Spirit, Pride and Determination I learned from the kids and thier Leader... Brian Mack.

To Brian's parents and family, I send my deepest sympathy for the loss of a Brave Son, Father, Husband and Brother.

To Brian: Thank you "My Brother" for your Bravery in accepting the "Ultimate Challenge". I know it was done without hesitation... May God Bless You.

And one other thing... If you need a Coach up thier in "My Field of Dreams" don't hesitate to ask.
