I had the honor and privilege of serving next to Joe in North Carolina camp Geiger at the Marine school of infantry December of 99'. Joe was a Marine's Marine also one the funniest people I've ever met!I can still see him doing his infamous "chicken dance" which would have our whole platoon laughing uncontrollably! He made alot of tough cold rainy days go by easier with his great sense of humor. Also served with him in Hawaii. He was sent to golf co while I was sent to Echo. As an infantryman being selected to participate in "super squad" was a pretty big deal to the guys back then.a company of 120-140 Marines, only 15 were hand picked to form an elite and "super" squad to compete against other super squads in the battalion and up. That being said going up against golf co during the comp I remember quick glancing at Joe as they ran buy the land nav course just seeing him soo locked in and focused soo poised . I thought to myself "oh man we have our work cut out!) Long story short Joe's squad beat us!haha I'll always remember Joe and everythng we endured together.only the good die young. RIP to my fellow Marine and brother. Semper fi

It still seems like yesterday, we were in ROTC together. I still here Sgt. Herter calling Joe's name very sternly about something he overreacted about. "Mr. Tremblay" he would always start his sentences with, with a mad look on his face. We would just smirk at each other because of the way it was said or what it was about. Who would've known that would lead us both to the Corps. I didn't get to spend much time with Joe once we went active duty, except for a bit while he was on boot leave. We ended up stationed in different bases but still we kept in touch for a bit. Im just sad through the years we lost touch and I didn't get to tell him, how much he meant to me. I learned through Joe, not to take advantage of the moments you have with family and friends. I'll always remember our time at the Bluff. You're still very much missed Joe.

April 26, 2017

Joe, It might be 12 years tomorrow that we lost you, but no matter how many years any of us have left we will NEVER forget you. There are many memories to mention, so I added a few below. I have this same picture of you on a shelf in my man cave. It's next to my buddy 1st Lt Jimmy Gillies, USMC ( 7/27/1945 - 08/07/1970 ) He's one of the James' that Jimmy is named after - the other being my great-grandfather James O'Connell. I see this picture a few times a day since around 2007, as does Jeannie & anyone else who enters the room. However, it's not only this great picture of you that reminds me of you - I think of you when I'm in my garage & remember all the great talks we had - I remember when you were serving your first hitch & called me from Hawaii to ask if I wanted extra dog tags. You were instructing other Marines at the time on the pistol range - I could hear the gun shots in the background & I remember thinking, Little Joey ain't a little kid anymore - He's a full grown Man. Also, how considerate of you to call - I think of you when I look down the road & see your house 100 yards away. I remember our last talk that was on your Dad's deck. You were attending Orange Community Collge along with my daughter Erin. I thought you were joining the US Navy Militia in Albany for weekend duty. Next thing I know you're in Iraq & it made me very uneasy & concerned. As for other memories, I still think of you when I'm @ the New Windsor League Complex. It reminds me what an awesome baseball player you were, or when I pass by the Newburgh Free Academy football field & remember what an awesome football player & track star you were. I think of you whenever I take River Rd. down by the Hudson & think of when you were on the NFA Crew Team. You were some kind of athlete! I talk about you with my 4 kids, Mike, Jr., Chris, Erin & Jimmy who will always miss you as I & many others will. The pain & sadness will always be with ALL of us, but the memories will never be forgotten. Your name comes up a lot around here at home & with my friends who knew you. Especially with Jeannie & I -- I've told new neighbors about you & many say they've heard about you. Just the other day a delivery guy stopped to ask for directions to Cpl Joseph S Tremblay Way. It gave me the chills at first, but reminded me of how proud we all are of you. I couldn't help but think how little did we know when you played army in the old woods behind your house & across from mine, that there would be a street named after you some day on the same property. More importantly, that you're in the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor practically next door - You are in very good company with my buddy Jimmy & many others along with our neighbor Joe Shepro. You were an amazing individual & fantastic person. You grew into an extraordinary brave young man & a dedicated United States Marine. So many are so proud of you & always will be forever.
Love ya' Man, Big Mike

Every day I think of something that we did (good or bad) a song comes on and once again your in my thoughs. I see your friends and tear up for what could have been. I love to talk to the guys that you servied with hear the storys and laugh with them and cry. There a great bunch of guys. Here it is the day after and my mind is still with you. As always time will pass and the thoughs will ease a little and life will go back to normal. But the hole in my heart will always be there I love all my children and grandchildren I would only hope that they know that losing you is a very hard and that I do love them. The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Joseph, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I simply felt the need to convey my deepest, heart felt condolences, to those that lived nearest me...

I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

You mean so much to me and i wish i could have said that before you left but i didnt get the chance. I miss you and love you with every little millimeter in my heart..

There's not a day I don't wake up and wish I could hang out with Joey at least one more time. I'll miss Joey for the rest of my life. He was an excellent friend and always loyal. All of us from Golf co 2/3 will miss the angry short frenchman.

It is nearing another difficult time for the Tremblay family. The remaining Marine's of Kilo Company will be celebrating their return, but all will return with a heavy heart as four of their "brothers" will not be returning with them. My heart and prayers go out to the Tramblay family, and we will honor Cpl. Tremblay at our son's celebration. Joseph is a hero to many and will not be forgotten, even by people (like me) that never had the honor of meeting him. God Bless you all.

Dear Lord Jesus and Mary, Mother of God,

Hold all these brave souls in the palm of your hand, comfort them and their families.

Send angels of protection, love, and comfort to all the service men and women still at war,

bring them home safely and comfort their families.

We ask all our prayers in Jesus' name. Amen.

I Love You Joey with all my heart and soul. You were the best cousin a person could have. You got me through stuff with guys, girl fights, and parents trouble. For that i am truly greatful. I Love You Always and Forever.

Your Cousin, lil sis, and someone who had always looked up to you,

Although I did not know your loved one, I want to extend my deepest sympathies. I also, lost my son, Sgt. Michael Marzano, USMC, of the 3-25 WPNS Co. Haditha Iraq, May 7th, in the ambush at the Haditha Hospital. I do not know any comforting words because nothing seems to be helping us right now, except for the fact that they died doing what they believed in. May they guard the streets of Heaven with the same pride they had as our military.

Dear Joseph,

Even though one of your last words to your fellow Marines were...

"I don't want a formation, and I don't want country music played at my memorial, Play "I Love NY"..." we still held a formation in your honor, you deserve it at the very, very least. But we did play "I Love NY" for ya. You were a fine Marine NCO, one I would gladly serve with again. And it is my distinct pleasure to say that I knew you and served with you. You will not be forgotten.

I served with your son in Hawaii, and he was a very close friend of mine. I am so sorry for your loss, he was the funniest person I have ever known in my Marine Corps service. He and I were rifle/pistol coaches together a lot, and I would always get a ride with him to the range every morning. The laughs were endless, and I miss his little CRX. I share in your pain, and I will miss Tremblay a lot, may God bless you and your family. Goodbye, Joey.

Mr. Tremblay,

I had the pleasure of serving with Joey for 4 years in Hawaii. I was heartbroken when I read his name in the Killed In Action list last night. I will never forget Joey, he was such a wonderful person with a unique outlook on life. My wife and myself will keep your family in our prayers.

To Joey's family and frineds, My prayers are with you. I met Joey along with his frends Patti and Jon back in Hawaii. Joey always made me laugh and would be the other "five year old-like" child in our friendship. I can't wait to see him again in Heaven so we can all hang out again.

To Tina and family,

No words can can explain or help with the loss of a child, only our thoughts and prayers may shine some light for you...

i am including this poem, to maybe help sooth your hearts...

"Don't Stand At My Grave And Cry"

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there

I do not sleep

I am a thousand winds that blow

I am the diamond glints on snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain

I am the gentle Autum rain

When you awaken in the morning's hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds, in circled flight

I am the soft stars that shine at night

Do not stand at my grave and cry

I am not there

I did not die

Sincerly,

Cindy

To the Family of Joseph Tremblay and Ms. Jennifer Coloni,

Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice of your son, fiance, and loved one. I too know how it feels to lose someone you love under these circumstances. Too many times Americans neglect to think of those willing to give their lives to protect us and keep us safe. The dedication shown by Cpl. Tremblay and his willingness to stand up for what he believed in says a lot for him as both a Marine and a person. Again, thank you Cpl Tremblay. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. May God Bless You! I will continue to ask God to give you comfort and strength during this time.

And now these three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. Corinthians 13:13

Joey is my son's (Dale) best friend. I had the pleasure of talking to Joey several times while they were stationed together in Hawaii. What a fine young man. It broke my heart when Dale called and broke this horrible news. I want you to know you are in my prayers adn thoughts during this time. Joey is the finest example of a young man. May God bless you and ease your pain.

To the Tremblay family:

I am completely heartbroken to learn of Joey's passing. He was a

sweet and gentle person, and although he was definitely a hero, one can't help but feel cheated.

I keep reminding myself that he is Heaven with the Lord, but where does that leave us?

I feel the utmost of sympathy and empathy towards all of his family and friends; Which I hope you all accept.

To the Tremblay Family and Friends,

There are many things we do not know and many questions we cannot answer or understand. The only thing we can do at a time such as this, is to understand this loss in the context of our faith. I did not know your son but just to know he was a Proud Marine is enough for me. As a Proud Marine Mom my prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

To the family of Joseph Tremblay,

I knew Joe, he was a good friend of mine and a fellow Marine. We went to school together, and worked together as Marines. I am sorry for your loss. I know what it is like losing friends to the war and wanting to be there to help them. We are always praying for men and women like Joe everyday. God bless you all and remember HE IS OUR HERO.

Dear Tremblay Family & Jennifer:

It was with great sorrow that I learned of the death of your son and fiance. My nephew is also serving at FOB Hit with the 3/25 Kilo Co. It was only when I went to the Kilo Co. website and saw the tribute to your son/fiance that I learned of his passing. I can only imaging how heart-wrenching this time must be for you, but your faith in Jesus Christ will help you through this terrible ordeal. May you all find peace and solace in the Lord and comfort in knowing that your son willingly gave the ultimate sacrifice for those of us who remain, and we are so very appreciative.
