My family and I send our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. I met him when I was a substitute teacher at his school. He stuck-out from the rest of his class, he was so respectful towards me and he reminded the other students to be on their best behaviors and that's when I knew that one day Rickey would become a force of one. Stay strong family. Evelyn White-Kelley

On behalf of all of us, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your love and support. Yes it's true you never get over losing someone that you truly love. Chico's my other half, he was my husband my best friend, and the best father a child could ever have. It amazes me how the kids and I will be out some where and people would know just by looking into our son eyes, that he was LIL CHICO. I think that the hardest part each and every day. But I thank god because we still have a piece of Chico here. I love you chico, and the kids and I think about you every day. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. REST IN PEACE...I'M GLAD TO HAVE SHARED A WONDERFUL LIFE WITH YOU, AND I KNOW THAT YOU FELT THE SAME WAY. THEIR WASN'T A DAY THAT WENT BY WHEN U DIDN'T REMIND ME HOW MUCH YOU LOVED AND CARED FOR ME AND THE CHILDREN, YOU ARE TRULY MISSED! NSCOTT, & KIDS!!

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Rickey, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It has been two since you left your family and friends. You will always stay in my heart and on my mind. You came to me in a dream on 1/19/2008 and I was wondering why. The next day was actually the date that you left us. I will always remember our last conversation we shared standing in the yard and your face as you walked away saying "you'll don't worry about me because I'm going to be ok". Not knowing, that would be the last time I would talk to you and see that beautiful smile you alway had on your face every again.

As I woke up this morning, to welcome my 30th birthday, I though about you Chico. In a few days it will be the anniversary of your homecoming. To this day I still get upset sometimes as I wonder why He had to take you away so soon, but I do understand that you finally completed your mission on Earth and now you are leading an army of soldiers in Heaven for the Lord. Chico, when I open up my email and I get an alert that someone else has entered a entry on your guest book, it brings so much peace in my heart that you made such a remarkable impression on the lives of so many people and I have decided to take your death as a message to be everything that I can be and to always treat others with respect and love as you did me. I miss you and love you always.

With the deepest regret, I have just learned of the death of Staff Sergeant Scott. As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and the more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!
August 19, 2007
There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

You were my cousin but more like my brother,
Memories of us in Moma's yard wrestling each other,
You left without warning or saying goodbye,
It just doesn't seem real,
and I keep asking God WHY?
You were always smiling and being silly,
nothing bad about you no one can say,
I miss you so much,
Why did you have to go away,
I keep waiting for you to come home,
hoping someone made a mistake,
My heart is in so much pain,
tell me how to stop the ache,
constantly playing back the last time you were here,
and how you sat by the window, rocking in the chair.
I promised to come to kentucky but time just flew by,
Now when will i see you again, You're my ribbon in the sky,
I know you're watching over me protecting me with your wings,
I can't wait to get to heaven so I can tell you one thing,
I love you dearly, and nothing can ever take your place,
I look at your picture daily and tears roll down my face.
Today you were born,
but you left six mos ago and 1 day,
I wish you were here so I could tell you happy birthday.
Wishing i could be with you just one last time,
you're gone but never forgotten, Forever a hero of mine.

Rickey Scott (better known in my family as Chico) was my cousin. I never really got to know him before he died but every moment that I did spend around him he always made me laugh and smile. I felt horrible when my mother (his aunt) got the call the night after his accident and I felt even worse when I found out that his mother (my aunt) hadn't even found out yet. I try my hardest not to question god but after my cousin passed all I could do was ask why. Why did this wonderful young man and the other soldiers that were with him have to die? Why did he even have to be sent to Iraq in the first place? He was such a brave and courageous soldier and he wanted nothing more than to fight for his country and that is exactly what he did. He faught and he made the ultimate sacrifice. He gave his life for this country and because of that I no longer think of Chico and my deceased counsin... I think of him as my hero. We all love you Chico and you will always be remembered as our hero. R.I.P. Rickey "Chico" Scott.

Chico visisted our home shortly before he left columbus last year with his new wife nicky. It was our pleasure and honor to meet him and spend some time getting to know him. I remember thinking how blessed nicky was to have met and fallen in love with someone so wonderful. Nicky - hold onto to the knowledge that he truely loved you and keep him in yours and your sons heart forever. As the wife of a man who served 23 years of proud military service I both understand the sacrifice he made and what it truely cost those who loved him.. He was wonderful son, a great husband, a great father and a hero to his country. He no longer travels in a military vehicle, but through the heavens with the wings of an angel.
Our prayers are with the family and freinds who now struggle to on, He is in your hearts and memories, and he is looking down from the heavens and will be watching over you.

To the family and friends of SSG Ricky Scott, SSG Scott was not only a great soldier and an outstanding leader, but he was a equally a great friend. I had the privilege of serving with SSG Scott in OIF I. No matter what happened and how bad it seemed, SSG Scott always put the needs of his soldiers and peers above his own. I know that SSG Scotts death was not in vain and that he perished doing what he loved to which is leading from the front. SSG Scott, I thank you and your family for their sacrifice. I thank you for protecting my family’s freedom, securities and their way of life. It is this type of sacrifice that makes you the person you are. You and your family will remain in my daily thoughts and prayers......... SSG Scott, you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

I was with the 101st ABN the first time we went to Iraq in 2003. I was a Squad Leader in the same Platoon that Rickey was in when he passed away. My condolences goes out to the entire family.

This is an entry that I sent following the announcment of Chico's passing. I sent this out to my close friends and family, due to not understanding how precious life is and how to always take the time out to tell those that you care for, how much they mean to you....Yesterday, as I walk into the house from yet another day of long calls, complaining parents, and complaining co-workers I sat down just to rest my feet and relax. I was watching the 6 o'clock news and it was in the middle of a broadcast of a fallen solider and when he announced the name I just stared at the TV. Ricky Scott, na'll not Chico couldn't be. So, naturally I called my best friend to ask her about how to verify if it was in fact it was Chico. So she gave me a number and of course I wasn't primary family so they wouldn't release any information. So, I went to the internet and there I found it Chico was gone. You know you don't miss someone until they are not here anymore. You don't miss them until you can't talk to them or see them. Chico was one of the most kind hearted people I have ever known. Its hard to believe that I met him in the 10th grade and we have always always kept in touch, no matter what state or foregin country he was in. He was always there to listen to me complain about my jobs and my relationships. He was such a good person and a good friend. This got me to thinking how precious life is and I wanted tell all of you how much I have appreciated you being there for me and taking the time out of your lives to be a friend to me and I want you to know that I love you. You know GOD makes no mistakes and at times it is hard for us to understand why HE makes the decisions that HE does but we must believe in HIM and trust HIS word. Again I LOVE YOU AND THANK YOU. My prayers are with the family.

To the family of Staff Sgt. Rickey Scott:
We do not know each other, will probably never meet. We will, however forever be united in our grief and sorrow at the loss of our Hero sons. I know first hand there are no words right now to bring you the comfort and peace you need. We are not supposed to outlive our children. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and allow you to get to a place where the memories once again bring a smile rather than the tears that flow so freely now. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you as I try and move forward myself. God bless this courageous young man.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!
