Theodore Banks
February 10, 2019
My name is SFC (Ret) Theodore Banks. SPC Carlson (Fred) and I served together as members of 228 FSB 24th Infantry Division. PAARNG for approximately 3-4years. I was his front line supervisor, Mess Sergeant, up through our deployment (2005-2006). When he returned from cook schoolI I considered him the example of what a warrior should be. I often utilized his leadership skills, expertise in his selected career field and his proficiency with a variety of weaponary.I'll never forget the day he approached me in regards to transferring from Food Service to Combat Arms as part of the Quick Reaction Force part of their duty being security, convoy escorts and engaging any threat to our camp area. SPC Carlson was a true Warrior in every sense of the word. He was the ultimate team member. He is sorely missed as 25 March approaches.

It's hard to believe, 12 years has gone by with Freddy's memories still with me. I am honored to have served with a soldier like Freddy, a warrior in every sense of the word. I was his Mess Sergeant early on in his career. We stayed in close contact while at TQ in Iraq. Blessings to his family. I will visit SPC Carlson March 26,2019.BE ENCOURAGED!

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Carlson Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Freddy,
I cant believe how long has past since you have not been here with us. There is not a single day that goes by that you are not on my mind, and im sure there are many other people who feel the same way. It is not fair that you had to leave so soon. Gosh little Freddy is getting so big and he looks exactly like you down to the tee. Im taking him to South Carolina in 3 weeks so he can see Pop Pop and dad. Pop Pop is not doing so well. I try to stay strong and not cry because i know you would not want me to, but its so hard. Some days i just dont know what to do with myself. Alot of kids my age have no clue what im going threw, you are my only brother, my only sibling and it tares me up inside that all i have is memories and pictures. I miss you so much that all the words in this world could not even discribe the feelings i have. It is my last year of school and im going to keep my head up even threw the hard times. I miss you big bro and I love you more than anything. I just wish we had more time and more important you had more time with your little boy. So long untill we meet again.
love you, miss you,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

It has been a little over a year since you left us. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you. There is a part of me missing that I will never be able to replace now that you are gone. Just know that you are missed very much and I know you are in a better place now. I just wish I could have been able to say I love more and how PROUD I am and always have been of you. You put your life on the line for others and that is the most un-selfish thing anyone could do. I see you in my grandson your son everytime I see him. I will take good care of him the best I can and know I will do things with him like I did with you. I love you very much son.

I never knew you but I do know your father, Fred Carlson Sr. He's a nice man and I'm sure you were too. I don't know what to say other than I feel your loss through your father. We did a memorial service to you at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania in January, 2007. I served but was out of the army long before this war. I'm sorry for your father's loss and for your family's loss.

Dear Freddy,
Everyday it gets harder and harder without you. The kids and I came down to where you rest for your birthday I wish I was smothering you with kisses for your birthday like you loved instead. When you passed on I felt like my heart went with you and everything is so wrong right now without you. I am happy that you gave me the greatest part of you that no one but our family can ever have... our son. Everyday and everynight I get to see the little things in our son that you did too and I just wish you were here to share that with me too. He even sleeps like you. I keep and cherish every picture, letter, card, and email we had together. I will never forget the last email you sent I just wish we weren't cheated out of our lives together with our family. You said in your last email I was your hero and I would always be your world but the truth is your my hero and will always and forever be my world. I will continue my promise to you to take care of our family and continue the future we planned together.
I love you so much Freddy.

Freddy,
Hey buddy! I miss you so much! I will never forget that day for as long as I live. I couldn't believe that this could have happen... I guess a part of me still doesn't. Your 26th birthday would have been tomorrow and I'm so sorry that I won't be able to give you 26 birthday hugs. You were always there for me and I will never forget you. I'm sorry I couldn't do more for you that day, but I would give up everything I have just so I could go back in time and get to you sooner. Keep an eye on Big Doc, he is in a coma down in Flordia and I don't think I can handle losing him too. I will do everything in my power to take care of your family... Words can't express how difficult it was to here that my buddy Freddy was gone. I rememberwhen he first came to the unit, he used to stack my plate of food real high and then ask me if that was enough. I could have fed an entire squad with the amount of food he stacked on my plate. That was the kind of soldier, and friend Freddy was. Always looking out for his brothers. I had the great honor of being part of the rifle detail for his service. It was an honor serving with him, and I'll miss him very much. GOD Bless Freddy's Family and his little boy.

I knew Fred for the past 4 years and work with him as a cook. Although we weren't the best of friend there will still be an emptiness in my heart.
I sent my condolences go to his family, and loved ones.
