At lot has changed since you left this earth and I will never forget the day we laid you to rest...it was an emotional day as my, Mom and I paid our respect to a fallen family member. We were both so proud of what you sacrificed for our country and sad, at the same time. I am writing today to say that I am so proud of my cousin Nick for his ultimate sacrifice that he gave for our country and our freedom. I have always felt you in my heart and thought of you since you left us. Your courage and bravery is remarkable. You are a true warrior! To my cousin, Julie & Paul and your brothers and sisters who were so young, I want them to know how much of a true man that you were to give your all for our country. I will always continue to fight for what is just and true, as our country is in shambles, especially now remembering what you and your fellow soldiers have given us for us. We are at a turning point and we will never give up the fight for what you gave your life for. I never want you to have died in vain. I remember you as a child, watched you grow into a man and could never be so proud...You are a true hero! Thank you and know that I will always love you. SemperFi, my cousin, Nick ~ Until we meet again.

I often think about you, I wish I could´ve known you a lot better but all I know of you is memories, memories our whole family has had with you. I wish I could´ve met you so badly reading through all
of these sweet messages make me
wish even more I could´ve met you, heard you´re voice, see that smile and known that personality as everyone else does. I was just a baby when you left us and I wish all the time I could know you now, sometimes I see you in my dreams and I know your watching over me I know you now know about me and my siblings. Our whole family misses
you dearly you´ll never be forgotten. Thank you for being brave. We´ll meet someday but I love you

Seven years, and the thoughts grow soft as the pain subsides, the innocence of time brings those fondest of memories back, to remember only the beam of your smile and the radiance of your laughter. Still remembering, always.

This is the first time that I have sat and read through all these messages. I think about him every day. It fills my heart knowing that other do too. He was and will always be my bestfriend. He was the best husband a woman could ask for. This is the hardest time of year. The King family does the BEST thanksgiving. Nicholas loved this day. Waking up abnormally early to put the massive turkey in the oven...EATING ALL DAY. Then ending it with apple pie.
I love you Nicholas.
Thanks to all the people writing on this site. I have found a great amount of comfort.

To my brother ;
- I wrote it just for him.
Sometimes I just wish
That you’d walk through the door
Flash your big white smile
Drop your bags upon the floor
Wrap your arms around me
And squeeze me wicked tight
Just like you always used to
Reassure me you’re alright.
I very often wonder
About when I have kids
And all the stuff I’ll tell them
About all the things you did
Not make you out to be perfect
But all your sins I’ll rid.
I constantly imagine
How wonderful it’d be
To live another day
With you hear by me
And just to hear your voice again
Would be ever-so nice
Or listen to your stories
I’d have you tell them twice.
How bad I truly miss you
No one will ever know
Nobody can replace you
I wish you didn’t go
You are an inspiration
What bravery you show
You left this earth in honor
You are a true hero.
Now you guard the gates above me
And up to you I look
I hope that God made the right choice
For what a life he took
I just cannot explain
How truly glad I am
That you are my brother
The eldest of the Klan
Who lived life a kid at heart
But gave it up a man.

In Memory of Paul Nicholas ~ (Debra Estep)
June 25, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Paul, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

June 21, 2008
I came across this card today. Nicky made it for me when my son Jeff (now a marine as well) was born. I saved all the cards his class made for me and pull them out every few years and look at them. They mean a lot to me. I saw this one from Nicky and I thought it would mean a lot to you too.

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why
Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know
But know we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store
Since you’ll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you’ll always stay

So blessed were we, to know the man,
Once a boy with cheeks of tan,
He left the million-dollar ride
With rifle trudging at his side,
A call to tread the mills of toil,
Up and down in ceaseless moil:
Happy if their track be found
Never on forbidden ground.
Oh for childhood’s painless play,
Sleep that wakes in laughing day,
Health that mocks the doctor’s rules,
Yet knowledge never learned of schools.
For today he sinks not in
That quick and treacherous sand of sin.
And he had more than you can buy
In the reach of ear and eye.
Outward sunshine, inward joy:
Now a man, was once a boy.
Your auntie Ann and cousin Shelby miss you lots :(

August 17, 2007
There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To Nick's family...Thanks to all of you for supporting Nick and all servicemen and women as they chose to defend our freedom. We pray that your sorrow, in time, will be replaced by wonderful memories. My son was in Iraq while Nick was. He didn't know him, however, in celebration of the 4th of July this year, he wrote a tribute that I'd really like to share with you. My son kept a blogsite to update all of our family and friends while he was in Iraq. He still posts entries since he is home, many not directly related to his time in Iraq. I would really like your family to read my son's tribute. If you e-mail me, I will share his blog address for you to read.

Since his passing, my own son, as well as three of his close friends has joined the Marines. I now have an even deeper understanding of his journey and his sacrifices. God bless all who loved and supported Nicky and I am forever grateful to Nicky for his service to our country.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

As the girlfriend of a Marine from Cpl. King's battallion, I can say that his loss will never be forgotten. As loved ones left behind, we constantly worry that "our" Marine may be the next one that you hear about in the news. My boyfriend, also named Nick, had known him. Just as I had told him when he had called me and told me the news, I will tell all of you who read this. He may be fallen, but never will he be forgotten. As this unit is scheduled to leave Iraq very soon, they will all be remembering and paying respects again to those ten men from that unit who have fallen. To the family of this brave Marine I send my deepest condolences and pray that time will heal the wounds.

Nick was an amazingly bright and vibrant young man. He had a magnetism about him where people were just drawn to him. He was a loving husband, best friend, son, brother, and all of the other things Nick was. I am a strong believer in everything happens for a reason, but things like this make it so much harder to believe that. The only thing I can think, is that he touched more lives in his 23 years with us, than most people touch in 60 year of life. Nicks soul and his spirit live on, and I am sure that Nick and Becky meet up again in another life, they were true soul mates, that doesnt die, sometimes is just takes a pause....Today is Septemeber 11, 2006....5 years have passed.....it seems like it was just yesterday....We will always love you Nick, you will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED!!!!

We understand what you are experiencing and feeling. No amount of words can ease the pain of your loss. We know firsthand there are no words of comfort at this time. We lost our son 9/3/2004 and it fells like yesterday. Just know that there are Marine families across the USA who is experiencing your loss and pain.
May he rest in peace knowing that he was loved and remembered by those who knew him as well as strangers who admired his courage and sacrifice? My deepest condolences, sympathy and prayers go out to the entire family. May God grant you peace, strength and comfort? I will keep your family in my prayers along with all the families of our American Hero’s. Another Fallen Hero --Thank you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during a time that no wife or parent can ever envision having to experience. Our hearts go out to you in sympathy and caring. To the family of Cpl. Paul N. King,
I never knew your son, but I know your pain. My son Cpl Ron R Payne Jr, was killed May 7,2004 in Afghanistan. We know the path you will begin to take in carrying your loss. However, know that people like my family will always be grateful for your loss. We are proud of our Marines and the other service men and woman who have given their lives for our freedom. I hope that when you are ready, please feel free to email me, I would be honored to speak with you and give you encouragement. We have gone through what you are just beginning. We have never wanted to see Heaven more than when our son was taken from us.
His sacrifice will never be forgotten by this family.
