Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Bradley H. Beste US Army Sergeant.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

We got to see Brad in his uniform, so handsome and kind. he came to the house to see Lauren before he returned to Iraq. We think of him often. I pray they found each other in the arms of God.

Beste was an outstanding soldier, and an awesome human being.. He saved my life more than times than I will ever know. I will never forget what he did for me and his country.. We went in together and came out together, but it hurts that I wasn't there to watch over him during the second tour. It eats at me everytime I think about him.. Miss you brother! Scout Out!!

Brad was my Gunner in his first tour in Iraq.. He was assigned to my truck when he arrived in Germany, and we quickly became brothers.

The President addressed the nation today ending all combat missions in Iraq. As I was watching, all I could think of was you. It is amazing all the little things that remind me of you. A song on the radio (usually the one that was on your myspace), a bird in the pet shop(looked just like the one I took care of once when your family was on vacation). You are in my thoughts and my heart everyday.
To the Beste Family- Thank you for your sacrifice. I think of you all daily and I hope that you are healing and remembering all the happy moments. Miss you all

Dear Mr.and Mrs. Beste,
My name is Michael Lubking and I am a junior at Sumner High School in Washington State. I want you to know that I am extremely sorry for the loss of your son Bradley who took a stand against those who try to install fear in our country. Your sons sacrifice to shield us from the winds of evil could not be more appreciated and honored though I wish as an individual I could do more to honor such a hero. When I look at the photo of your son that is dawned before me on a piece of paper as a fallin soldier I think of the photos you dawn on your shelves not only as a soldier but a son, from his early childhood photos to him in service. Which goes to show those fighting for us like your son were once young and eager to grow up and get out into the world to do some good, and for your son that good was taking that chance to die for our country's safety and security which is protected and guided by other sons and daughters as well. Thank you.

Dear family of Sgt. Bradley H. Beste,

We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. We hope this will bring pride and comfort to you.
We at Gethsemane Church believe that there is purpose to life. We send this letter with our deepest appreciation for the greatest of sacrifices, you and your loved one have given to this country. We know it is not enough, but please allow us to assure you that your loved one is not forgotten.

Very Sincerely

FrankG. Noyes (Pastor)

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Bradley, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

According to the dictionary, "hero" is a word from Greek mythology. A hero is a person who usually fulfills the definitions of what is considered good and noble in the originating culture. Brad really is a true hero.

As I've read through the entries in this guest book, it becomes more and more clear that Brad touched many lives in incredibly powerful and positive ways.

Personally, I am thankful that he was shared with us for even so short a time as he was here. He brightened the lives of so many people, gave them love and care and support without ever expecting anything in return. He was one of my sister's best friends, and it saddened me deeply when she told me about his death.

There aren't enough words in the world to express the sadness that I (and countless others) feel in contemplating the loss of such a wonderful young man. I hope these few words have touched someone's heart, though. It felt good to get them out.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Sgt Beste was my gunner on our first tour of Iraq. Always calm and never rattled. He was a great soldier, He used to give me the Tribunes that came in his care packages to read.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Though we have never met, my heart breaks. Your son stood up and fought for this country of ours. I was at the funeral in spirit, for I had to attend a funeral of a loved one whose service was right after Brad's.

Your family is in our prayers. We did not want to impose on your private grief, so rather than going to the funeral, we are using this outlet to let you know that your family and your son are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our daughter is a NVHS Class of 2003 graduate. Our son graduated from Waubonsie in 1999, Vanderbilt in 2003, and is now a CPT with a unit in Ramadi.

We are all part of an Army family that feels your pain so deeply.

God bless you now and always.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I met Brad in 7th grade, attending Gregory Middle School. Ever since I first talked to him, I always looked up to him greatly. Throughout all of middle school and high school, he just seemed to be friends with everyone, and one of the nicest guys I had ever known. In high school there are always your cliques, such as the jocks, band kids, and others. Brad just seemed to fit in with everyone. Even if you weren't part of the high school's "in crowd", that didn't matter to him. I was part of the drama club and he didn't see me as a drama geek like others may have, he saw me as a person and took time to acknowledge me and talk to me. We hung out a few times early in our highschool years and it pains me deeply to know a person of such greatness has been lost. I will always remember Brad, and everything he did for me.

Mr & Mrs Beste & Family,

You have been in my thoughts and prayers continually these last few days. My husband is the company commander of F Troop (BRT). Please know that Bradley's passing has left a hole in the BRT family which is felt by all of us- soldiers and spouses alike. He will always be a hero to us. The Friedberg, Germany community is grieving his death along with your family, and we feel the loss of this great soldier in a personal way. May you find strength in the fact that he is being honored by those who knew and loved him. And may God grant you strength and peace as you grieve your loss, and pride in the fact that your son is a true hero!
