Hello,
We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Jeffrey J. Hansen US Army Staff Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jeffrey, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I regret that I did not have the high honor of knowing Staff Sgt. Jeffrey J. Hansen. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. I wish to join with his family and friends as you continue to grieve and to honor Jeffrey and to also celebrate his life. I believe that each soldier is truly the son and daughter of all Americans. Should anyone need someone to talk to or pray for you at any time, please email me.

Someone once said that when one life ends, it is equivalent to losing three libraries full of knowledge and experiences. When Jeffrey left this earth it was heaven's gain. However, he left friends and family with at least three libraries full of his knowledge and memories of his life experiences. What a wonderful gift that you can close your eyes and replay any moment with Jeffrey in living color and hear his voice and laughter and see his smile over and over and over again as if it were just now taking place. I hope that those who knew Jeffrey continue to find great comfort and joy and peace each day as you think about the many volumes of experiences that Jeffrey has given you.

Jeffrey, thank you for giving yourself for the freedom of those you knew and those of us you did not know. You did your part to make this world a better place for us. One day when our turn comes, we will join you not in this world where there is hatred, anger, sickness, war and death, but in that "better place" where you are now where there is love, happiness, health, peace and eternal life. Until then, rest in peace, son.

To Bob, Jeremy, and Jenny:

This past weekend was our 15th class reunion and I thought of Jeff. There isn't a time that I hear about another soldier losing their life that I don't think about all of you and Jeff. He was an amazing man, friend, and husband and I am very blessed to say that I knew him. May the Lord be with all of you as you try and create a new normal for your lives.

God Bless your courage and strength.

It has been over a year that you have been gone yet I still hope everyday I will wake up and you will be home. I love you so much and although I know you are in a far better place I hate it that we are not together. I feel angry and sad all the time that GOD made are time together so short and unfinished. I know that you were doing what you believed in and for that I have never been anything but PROUD. But I wish you were here. I love you and will always be lost without my scout.

Jeff,

Not a DAY goes by when I don't think of you. My cousin, wherever I walk, even a year from our loss, you are always beside me. Now you're at peace, and we're not separated by 7000 miles. I feel you're presence everyday in my heart. There is no possible way to explain in words how heroic you our to our world, damaged it may be. With so many people that look up to you, and are touched by your kind, loving heart, I consider myself more than lucky to have had the opportunity to be your cousin.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

My heart breaks for you in the loss of your child, husband, grandson, and more. You have my deepest sympathies and you have my prayers. May you find comfort in your beautiful memories and may you find peace in your new normal without him. God bless you.

My family and I are thankful for your son’s Bravery, Courage, Determination and Service to fight for our country and for our freedom. Your son paid the ultimate sacrifice and we are truly indebt to him. We thank all in our armed forces for the sacrifices made for us. All gave some and some gave all. Your son will not be forgotten, I promise.

I share so much in your loss as I am a proud Nebraskan also and we too lost our son to the war in Iraq. Your pain to great as he lost his mother also. We certainly don't understand it all but I trust in the Lord. I have buried a brother, my dad and sons and I am mid 40's. I just know there is a bigger plan in which the Lord has than this little mind of mine can not understand. God bless you in your pain. Hold fast to your beautiful memories.

Dear family and friends of SSgt. Jeffrey J. Hansen,
My name is Jessica Matson (Ford). I am the eldest sister to fallen SGT. Joshua A. Ford 189th TC Norfolk/Wayne Nebraska Army National Guard, KIA 7/31/2006. I want to share my prayers and thoughts with you this Christmas season as it will be the first for us all without our loved ones. Our loved ones were dear to us all, our angels sent from above who we didn't seem to get enough time with. But I know each of them truly were our angels and they will continue to protect and serve us all from above. May we all look into the holdidays and try to find some comfort for what we don't understand. God bless our soldiers, here and those above. With our family's love.

My Dear Cousin,

The wrath of war has yet taken another person.. unfortunatly it had to be you. You were a huge part of this family, and we consider you our hero. Although I might be the youngest cousin, you set a huge example for me, and many people in central Nebraska. Our heart will be sealed with your name forever.

Military Parents,

September 1, 2006

To the Family of Staff Sgt. Jeffrey J. Hansen:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

My Deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Staff Sgt. Jeffrey J. Hansen.

The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

There is so much thanks to be given, for these young heroes, for their Courage, Service and Dedication.

May Jeffrey rest safely in God's Mighty Hands and may God's Loving Comfort and Grace be with the Hansen family.

I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

Surely He hath borne our grief, and carried our sorrow.

Isaiah 53:4

May the memories of your loved one live in your heart always.

Softly and slowly....

Time heals...
