Jeremy King Obituary

11/29/1982 8/24/2006 Jeremy was born Nov. 29, 1982 in Jacksonville, N.C., the son of a U.S. Marine. The third son of Bob and Judy King joined brothers Billy and Bobby in keeping their parents very busy for the next 20 years. For what one didn´t think of, the other did. When he was only 16 he met the love of his life, Yulonda Crawford, and predicted to his buddies Òthat´s the girl I'm going to marry!Ó And he did four years later on Dec. 18, 2002, shortly after enlisting in the Army. He was on his second tour in Iraq at the time of his death. His wife will receive his Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Jeremy was home in May for the birth of his daughter, Kaidyn. When she was one week old he returned to Iraq and was due home again the first of December. His mother´s description of Òtall, slender, cleancut, handsome; a clownÓ fits him perfectly. He lived life to the fullest and approached everything with vigor, zest, and a big smile of anticipation. One of his favorite things was finger steaks and he was never shy about asking Mom or Tanya Calkins to make them for him. In addition to his loving wife and daughter, he is survived by his parents, Bob and Judy King, his brothers Billy (Bobbie) and Bobby all of Meridian; a niece and nephew; grandparents Bill and Marlene Swetland of Meridian and Delane and Helen King of Kuna, his great grandmother Clara Inwards of Kuna; Yulonda´s uncles Greg and Mike, her aunts Tiffany and McKenzie and her mother and grandmother. He is also survived by his best friends Billy Calkins and Pat Brunton, his second parents Randy and Tanya Calkins and his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. at the Boise 1st Community Church (Nazarene) at 3852 N. Eagle Rd. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006. Interment with military honors will follow the services at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Viewing for family and friends will be on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Meridian´s Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 105 East Carlton Avenue (Corner of main and Carlton), Meridian, ID 83642, office: 888-4454. The family invites friends to share memories and condolences at www.chapel-of-the-chimes.com , go to the obituaries and memorials link and select memorials and guestbook to share with the King family. The family has asked that donations be made to the benefit account in Yulonda and Kaidyn King´s name at the Meridian Key Bank 1650 East Fairview Ave., Meridian ID 83642, or at any Key bank.

Jeremy was my next-door neighbor while we are stationed at Fort Hood together. We would sit in my front yard drinking beer and talk about the APFT, promotion boards and life in general. I will always remember the steak dinner I made for him and his wife the night before we shipped out to Iraq. memorial day is in May for most of the country but for me it's in August. Rest easy brother.

Happy Belated Birthday in Heaven. May God hold you in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

In Memory of Jeremy ~ (Debra Estep)

August 24, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jeremy, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To The Family of Sgt. Jeremy King

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your son, father, brother and friend. Jeremy was definitely an American Hero. My son had the honor of serving with your son in Iraq and was devastated and heartbroken upon his passing as he was with him on that day. My son had a very hard time with the passing of Jeremy as they served side by side. On behalf of my son we send our love and prayers to you all. I want you to know that Jeremy is a part of my family as well as all of you. He is an Angel watching over us all including his Army buddies from the 4th Infantry out of Ft. Hood, Texas. Just know that he made a sacrifice to serve our country and paid the ultimate price. Sgt. King will never be forgotten and know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May God Bless You and Be with in your time of need. I as a military mother am available to you if you should ever want to talk. God Bless and Love you All.

Military Parents,

September 1, 2006

To the Family of Sgt. Jeremy E. King:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
