Dear parents of SSg Morris. My husband served with Daniel and was with him when he passed. My husband continues to serve and not a year has passed that we have not thought of him and remembered him. My husband considered him a friend and a great soldier. He still struggles with his passing. I hope that time has healed your wounds and brought you peace. In our home he is remembered as not only a hero but as a truly good person.

In Memory of Daniel ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Daniel, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

My husband & I pray for you both during this time. As parents of a Fallen Soldier you are going through a time in your lives that is unsettling. There will be days that your'll remember Daniel & laugh at the most oddest moments of something he did. Then you will cry because he should be home. Have comfort in knowing that he is at HOME with his BROTHERS & GOD.

Dear Lexy,
I spent 8 years in the Air Force. My Dad retired from the Air Force. My sister, her husband, and their 2 sons currently serve in the Air Force and all 3 men have gone to Iraq. My brother is in the Army and is coming home today after his 3rd trip to Iraq. So as you can see, our family knows the military. We also understand, as does everyone who voluntarily joins the military, that one day we may be asked to make the ultimate sacrifice--to give our life for what we believe in. Your Daddy died for you Lexy. He died for me and every other American breathing in this world. Your Daddy reflected the Spirit of THE ULTIMATE VOLUNTEER--Jesus. Jesus died for what He believed in too. He died for us. He's not sitting on His throne thinking, Oh Gosh, how did that happen?--in thinking about your Daddy's death. Jesus knows EXACTLY what He's doing. He had a plan for your Daddy and your Daddy finished the job and went home. He has a plan for you too Lexy. Trust Him and you too will finish the plan that He has for your life--and when your job is finished, you will see your Daddy again. My Daddy died too, when I was 24. I was devastated as I'm sure you are. It does get better. You will heal and I'm sure that your Daddy wouldn't want you to stay sad. He would want you to live for what he died for--a free life dedicated to living the best life you can. I don't know you Lexy, but I so identify with you, as does my whole family. We, like many others, are praying for you.

I was on the plane that transported the body of this fallen hero. The pilot appropriately announced to us, before taking off in Atlanta, that this precious cargo was on board. There was a moment of silence and prior to deplaning in Knoxville, we kept our seat and allowed the escort to deplane first. It was a somber and touching moment. I pastor a small church and I want you to know that this family is in our prayers and in our heart. We are so thankful for the sacrifice of this young man!
