Well, Doc; Buster finally passed away, at the ripe old age of 12 years...still remember helping you neuter this crazy cat - trying to get him sedated, but he was such a block of muscle that he just kept absorbing it...nevertheless, he had a great life, here in Massachusetts, and you were a big part in making that happen. Thanks for everything.

The moment that you died, my heart was torn in two, one side filled with heartache, the other died with you.
I often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheeks.
Remembering you is easy, I do it every day, but missing you is heartache that never goes away.
I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain.
Until the joyous day arrives when we will meet again. - unknown

Michael, your mom has missed you so much, but I want you to know that she has been such a beautiful witness of trusting the Lord to help her through each day, and knowing she will see you again. She has helped so many people through their loss because of her love of you and her love of God. We talk about your sweet and wonderful life and always cry and smile at the same time.

If I could have a lifetime wish,
A dream that would come true,
I'd pray to God with all my heart for yesterday and you.
A thousand words can't bring you back,
I know because I've tried.
Neither will a million tears,
I know because I have cried.
You left behind my broken heart,
And happy memories too.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

I thought of you
with love today,
But that is nothing new.
I thought of about you yesterday
And each day before that too.
I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name.
All I have are memories,
And pictures in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake
With which I will never part.
God has you in His keeping,
But I have you in my heart.
Gone, but not forgotten
This pain, i cannot hide
In memory, I see
A million tears, I've cried.
If love could only have saved you,
you never would have died.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
But you didn`t go alone.
For a part of us went with you...
the day God called you Home.

The warriors that fought for their country, and bled,
Have sunk to their rest; the damp earth is their bed;
No stone tells the place where their ashes repose,
Nor points out the spot from the graves of their foes.
They died in their glory, surrounded by fame,
And Victory's loud trump their death did proclaim;
They are dead; but they live in each Patriot's breast,
And their names are engraven on honor's bright crest.

Up Above ~ a poem from a friend

4 July, a holiday,
But I am not so sure.
My boy won't be here to share,
His escapades from war.
Marching bands and fireworks,
A time to celebrate.
But for those who ache inside,
It's open for debate!
Time for picnics and parades,
Baked beans and apple pie.
That's not true for those like me,
Whose loved ones had to die.
Sure I love my country,
And I'm so glad we're free,
But this day holds pain and grief,
For Gold Star moms like me.
You can hold your hero close,
And share his pride and joy.
I hold lifeless photographs,
And memories of my boy.
So no, I'm not real thankful,
But I'll turn to my God.
He knows my deepest sorrow.
He's been where I now trod.
Go ahead, enjoy your day,
My hope is up above,
In glory with my Savior,
Who holds the boy I love!

June 28, 2011

I'm thinking of how you gave joy to so many people, especially, Mary, Janet and Ali.

Remembering

Go ahead and mention my loved one,
The one that died, you know.
Don't worry about hurting me further.
The depth of my pain doesn't show.

Don't worry about making me cry
I'm already crying inside.
Help me to heal by releasing
The tears that I try to hide.

I'm hurt when you just keep silent,
Pretending they didn't exist,
I'd rather you mention my loved one
Knowing that they have been missed.

You asked me how I was doing
I say "pretty good" or "fine"
But healing is something ongoing
I feel it will take a lifetime.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
