Hello,
We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and some of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Bryant W. Mackey US Army Staff Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Been thinking of you so much this week, more so than usual anyway. It is easier to pretend like you are still just over there. Although I couldn't ask for you to be in better hands, I still wish I could feel that hug. I am so honored to be your mother. Love, Mom

Hello to the Mackey Family. Let me start out by saying I'm very sorry for your loss and Thank you all for the service that SSG Bryant Mackey gave to our country. I bought a storage unit in Fort Knox, Kentucky and found a braclet in memory of Mackey. I would love to return it to the family, After reading that he left behind a wife and 3 children I know that this braclet would mean a lot for one of them to have. Please if anyone could call or text me an address, I would love to make a family smile and bring back some good memories. 502-817-8329

I am truely sorry for your loss. My son was killed 12/26/07 in Ninewa, Mosul, Iraq. He was Capt. Rowdy J. Inman, he was with "Iron Hawk" troop with the 3rd Squad, 3rd ACR when he was killed by an I/A. I know your pain and will always remember you sonn who was also killed in Mosul. I have been trying to write to all the soldiers from 3rd/ 3rd ACR to let the parents and family know that they are not alone. The "Gold Star Mothers" are a wonderful group that you need to search out and lean on when no one else knows the words to say to lift a heavy heart.

SSG Mackey was indeed a true brother and friend to all. I find that no words of mine could ever adequately express the impact that his life has had on the Troopers of Lightning Troop. His ideals and mentorship lives on in the Troopers he lead and the lives he touched throughout his career. We continue to keep his family in our prayers, for even though our brother is gone, our pain can never compare to the loss felt by his children for their Father, or his wife for her Husband.

Rest easy, SSG Mackey, for your brothers return to the fight with your memory etched on our minds. Though Iraq is bleaker still with you gone, know that you will be missed, Bryant, now and forever.

April 11, 2008

Thank you for all you have done for this country! God bless you and your family.

Mackey, We are truly going to miss you man. I still remember the last time I talked to you before you left from Ft. Knox. I still laugh about wanting you and Barrington on my crew to intimidate the guys scoring us during gunnery. You were truly a honorable man. You will always be remembered by the BANDITS. I will always have a place for you in my heart.

March 20, 2008

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I would like to express my deepest condolences for the loss of SSG Mackey.
The hardship and experiences of serving in combat have bound our Soldiers closely together, and SSG Mackey was an important part of our extended family. He will be truly missed by all of his comrades in Lightning Troop.
All of us in Lightning wish that we could do more to lessen your sorrow. It is my most fervent hope that, over time, fond memories of SSG Mackey and feelings of pride associated with his distinguished, selfless service to our nation and his fellow troopers will provide you and your family with comfort and relief.

Dear Family and Friends,
I would like to offer my sincerest condolences. I cannot begin to imagine the loss and pain all are going through. My nephew is a United States Marine and serving in Iraq. We all pray for him and his comrade’s safety every day. War is a horrible reality. I salute and I am proud of all of our troops and their bravery to protect our freedom and serve their country with honor. Freedom is not free.

March 7, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

The entire Mackey family is in our hearts and prayers. I remember Bryant as a high school sophomore who would frequently come by our house to visit. My (now husband) was enlisted in the Army delayed entry program waiting for graduation before leaving for basic training. Bryant was full of questions and I remember they would visit for hours about what the future would be like once they were through basic training.
Bryant was first our friend and now our Hero. Thank you.

Staff Sgt. Bryant W. Mackey honorably gave his life for his country, and for that ultimate sacrifice, I will be eternally grateful. Selflessness is so underrated, and he personified it. SSgt. Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear ones,
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder; I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illuminated
Every dark and fearful glade.
And he came himself to meet me
In a way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

My sincere condolences to SSG. Bryant Mackey’s family and friends. Words cannot express my sincere sympathy for your loss and our countries loss of such a fine young man as he. I send this on behalf of my son who served with SSG. Mackey with Lightning Troop as I know that he would probably want to express his heartfelt sympathy to you.

My son served with Bryant from August or September 2006 starting at Ft. Hood in his same platoon and then in Iraq until the time of Bryant’s passing. My son was with Bryant in Iraq just before he passed away. Please know that although Bryant was not with you at the time of his passing he was with friends and brothers of sorts who cared for him and will never forget him.

My entire family wants to thank you for Bryant and for his service and sacrifice, as well as, your sacrifice. We will be praying for all of you that God strengthens you and comforts you in this time and for the years that will pass without him.

Sincerely,

(Grenada Veteran and proud parent of a Soldier)

The Mackey's; I just lost my oldest
brother [ a year and a half older
than I] two weeks ago so the sorrow
is deep and recent as I share in the
absence you must feel! No, it was not in combat, as we know it, rather
a battle with cancer. At his grave-
side service I was allowed to say a
few words, hopefully of comfort, I take this opportunity to share them
with you now: "Jesus said, where I
go you cannot go now, I go to now to
prepare a place for you, for in my
Fathers house there are many rooms,
for if it were not so, I would have
told you so. I am certain that that
is where Bryant is now!" Amen.

There are no words to express my sorrow for your loss. No words can make up for your pain. There is nothing to say that can make up for the feelings that you feel now.
God has one more Angel on guard duty. I thank God for such young men!!

Somehow 'thank you' does not seem enough. Your honor and courage will be remembered as the gift you gave me and my children while fighting for our country's freedom. God's blessing for you and your family.

I heard about Staff. Sgt. Mackey on the local news and am so heartbroken, although I do not know the Mackey Family. I have told many people to pray for your family today and our flags are lowered in your honor.
* To Staff Sgt. Mackey--Thank you for your service to our country. I am very sorry you had to make the ultimate sacrifice, but certain you are in God's gentle hands now.
* To the Mackey Family--I pray you will find peace in the wonderful memories you have. He will continue to live on through you.
God Bless.
