Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Scott B. Stream US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.

To the family and friends of Scott Stream,
Since February 24, 2009, our family has been suffering with you; my sister's husband, Brian "Bubba" Bunting was killed with Scott. Scott, God bless you soldier and thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation and for paying the ultimate price for our freedom.. You are now in great company with God and so many other fallen heroes before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was killed in action in Iraq and my final promise to him was to never forget him and our fallen hero’s, we will never forget their commitment and sacrifice. To the Scott family, words cannot express the pain we now share, but our families will forever have a bond and we will be thinking of Stream and your family and will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Since the loss of my nephew I have written on every single legacy page of every fallen soldier and included a photo of my nephew. I encourage you to do the same to Aaron's page. I have done this to honor my nephew but to let you know your loved one is not alone and my nephew is with him and they are now in God's gracious hands waiting for us to join them one day. From the bottom of my heart please except my sincere condolences and may the memories of your Hero carry you through each day for he will never be forgotten!

Your life was forever altered

And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor

Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to heal you as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your lives.

I just wanted to thank Sgt. Stream and his family and friends for the ultimate sacrifice that they have made for our country. I lost my best friend, Pfc. Danny L. Kimme, 1/16/08 in Balad, Iraq to a firefight. I'm not going to tell you that everything will be better tomorrow...I wish I could but I can't. I still think of my best friend everyday but I will tell you it's much easier now than before. It's easier to get past the "what if's" and "what might have been's" and just to remember him for the true American Hero that he is. Make no mistake...Sgt. Stream is a Hero. A hero to his family, friends, myself, and the rest of this great nation! I consider the loved one's of Sgt. Stream's Heros as well. As no one can understand the pain that is involved with having a loved one active in war much less losing that loved one to the war itself. My best advice is to keep pushing forward everyday. Don't forever mourn the loss of him, but honor the life that he lived and cherish all the great memories that he left you with. To you Sgt. Stream you have my highest respect and if ya could tell my buddy Danny hello for me in Heaven...I'm sure you'll see him sitting with you and the rest of our Heroes that we all miss so much!

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Sgt. Scott Stream our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Scott. And to Scott it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Scott, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

Dear Rasa and family,
I had the privelege of meeting Scott last year when he was a student at Lake Land College. I was Scott's instructor for his Construction Management class. Scott always came to class prepared & ready to learn. He was a "can do" individual with a positive attitude & a smile, ready to accomplish any task at hand. Scott understood the lessons quickly, but never got bored. Instead he would help others in the class who did not absorb the material as easily. Scott was a leader, ready to participate in discussions but never dominate. He was a pleasure to know. I soon learned that he was eager & proud to serve his country. I am very sorry for your loss. You will always be in my thoughts & prayers because Scott was an unforgettable personality. If I could have a son, I would be fortunate to have one just like Scott.

Scott is an honorable man who gave up everything for his country, so that I would be able to voice my opinions in this fast changing world. I appreciate him and his family for all he has done for me and this country. May his heart and soul find god and peace.

To the members of Sgt. Stream's family, We are praying that God will comfort you at this time of great loss to you and our Nation, whom Scott served so honorably, valiantly, and selflessly. We thank you for sharing him with us and want you to know that we are honored to have men such as him fighting to protect us and spread freedom to others. He will certainly be in Heaven with our Father and will hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant". We pray that God will bless and comfort you all and that you know our Nation is ever grateful for your sacrifice.

Scott, You were a warrior and I was honored to know you as a friend on facebook.
You served with pride, honor, courage and commitment. You knew the cost of freedom and you stood on that wall for the sake of those who are not strong enough to fight for themselves. This willingness to sacrifice on behalf of our neighbors is why serving in the military is considered such a high calling! I know that soldiers fight because YOU believe that restraining evil out of love for our neighbor is an imitation of God’s restraining evil out of love for His creatures. Regardless of the politics - you pressed on towards a common cause, a purpose that puts your needs last. God, Country and family is what motivated you to serve the higher purpose. Scott you were noble! You stood for a cause of our country's freedom in a world where if evil reigns unchecked by justice the enemy would be free to prey on the the weak. You fought for my liberty and I will remember you always! You fought for my liberties. You are one of my heroes!

Words are inadequate to express the loss to the nation when one of her hero's fall and words fail when its time to say thank you for his service and to say that "I am very sorry for your loss" to his family...

Rasa, Laura and family:
While we have not met and did not have the privledge to meet Scott we do want to share our concerns for you and the family. He no doubt loved you and his country and for that he will always be remembered as one that gave the ultimate sacrifice so we are safe and rewarded by the efforts of Scott and all the military.
Our prayers are with you in this most difficult time. Keep your faith strong and God will reward you over time. No one will ever know why Scott was chosen but it must be because of his dedication and love that made him so much better than most.
Always remember the good times and he will be with you forever.

Although I was never priviledged to meet Sgt. Stream, I want to extend my sincere sympathy to his family. I read the letter that was printed in the Times Courier newspaper. What a remarkable person Mr. Stream was. I only wish that there were more people in the world like him. His life was not in vain. Sgt. Stream's words will remain in our hearts and minds. May you find comfort knowing that Scott Stream was a man of God and is at peace in Heaven.
