Hello,
We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Nathaniel D. Garvin US Army Specialist.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

There is no words that can make this pain go away, and no one knows why things happen in the way they do. I know this story has touch every one and my heart and prayer goes out to his family. I do not know Nathaniel, but I know he had to of been one special guy to have put his life on the line for our country. I know Timothy is a special friend and his brother meant the world to him. May God help his family through this difficult journey, may his memories live on. He is home now, his home with God. Please know that I am truly in tears and heart broken. I will keep you Timothy and your brother's family in my prayers. God Bless the family.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Nathaniel will never be forgotten.
For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .

To the family of Nathaniel - My prayer for you is that this poem I wrote will bring you comfort. It is: FALLEN HEROES From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan. He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man. I know some were against it but God knows what is best. Since the day He took me home I've had perfect rest. Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold. Now I'm serving others including saints of old. I know some still have anger about the way I died yet God and I both have seen the many tears you've cried. He is a God of comfort whose love will never cease. Give your feelings to Him and He will give you peace. As difficult as I know it is please don't hold a grudge. Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge. Then on that resurrection day when all the dead will rise the Lord will reunite us together in the skies. So don't give up my friends my memory is still alive. Put your trust in the Lord and I know you will survive.
Thank you Nathaniel for your service.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms Spc. Nathaniel Garvin. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Nathaniel. And to Nathaniel it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Nathaniel, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,335 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Nathaniel’s family and loved ones.

To Those I Loved And To Those Who Loved Me; When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears, Be thankful for our beautiful years.
I gave to you my love, you can only guess, how much you gave to me in happiness, I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a time that we must part, So, bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on, So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near, All my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home."
