Charlien R. Doyle

Charlien R. Doyle, 71, formerly of F Street, Staunton, and recently of Avante of Waynesboro, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 25, 2008.

She was born March 7, 1937, in Winchester, Virginia, a daughter of the late James Allen Nolen and Oneida Lambert Nolen.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Rankin; second husband, William R. Doyle; a daughter, Crystal Hope Rankin; a grandson, Joseph Dykes; and a brother, Allen J. Nolen.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Eddie Rankin and Rose of Strasburg; Darlene Lane and Tim of Churchville; Harold "Rudy" Rankin, Jr. of Augusta County; George W. Rankin of Florida; Joyce Hale and Terry of Greenville; Allen Rankin and Bonnie of Churchville; William Rankin and Liz of Staunton; Phillip Doyle; Patricia Doyle; a sister, Regina Rankin and her husband, Willard; nine grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2008, at Rankins United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Reverend Harold Wade.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008, at McDow Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of her son Allen, 689 Vinegar Hill Road, Churchville.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Avante for their compassion and wonderful care. They were a great comfort to the family.
