Dr. Abraham O. Ruday STAUNTON

Dr. Abraham Oscar Ruday, 83, widower of Jacqueline "Hemsey" Ruday, of Shannon Place, died Friday, September 5, 2008, in Baldwin Park, Bright View.

He was born December 28, 1924, in Philadelphia, a son of Oscar and Katherine "Kaplan" Ruday.

He was preceded in death by his wife on November 14, 2006.

Dr. Ruday was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II.

He was a graduate of the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine.

Prior to retirement, Dr. Ruday had been a Podiatrist for 42 years.

Family members include a brother, Dr. Harry Ruday and his wife, Jeanette; a nephew, Dr. Dean Ruday and his wife, Joyce; and two nieces, Kathy Buretta and her husband, Charles, and Sherry Collins and her husband, Ray.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008, in Thornrose Cemetery by Rabbi Joe Blair.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008, in Henry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 250 East Market Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 or the American Cancer Society, Staunton/Waynesboro/Augusta Unit, 1920-H Medical Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
