I know that months have passed by since your heartbreaking loss, but I wanted you to know that you and your family has not been forgotten. Many years ago I had the pleasure of working with Marty at the 112. There wasn't a day that would go by that he didn't have a smile on his face and always willing to give a helping hand. Judy stay strong and know that even though Marty may not be here physically, he will always be with you spiritually. Lay your head down at night and know that he will forever be watching over you and your boys. With each day that goes by, will be a new beginning and know that your inner strength will prevail for you and you darling boys. Be strong and know that you have a personal angel always watching you and your family and trust that you will always find the strength to go on, even when times seem so unbearable, you will be able to go on, if not for yourself but for the love of your boys, because that is what Marty would have wanted you to do. God bless you and your family in your time of need and years to come.

Dear Judi and boys,
I was so heartbroken to hear of your tragic loss. I read the Newsday article with tears as I imagined your pain. It wasn't until later on that I realized that I knew you. Judi, you were my son Brandon's preschool teacher when he was 3 years old. I just wanted to let you know how deeply saddened we are. Please know that you and your boys will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Simmons & Sons, My deepest sympathies to you on the loss of your husband and father. My family lost my brother last year at only 41, also leaving behind a wife and 3 kids. There are no words that can heal the pain you are feeling. Just take comfort in your family, they are the ones who will carry you through this somehow. And also know that you will be in the prayers of so many as you begin to find your way without your loving husband and Dad. God bless all of you.

To the Simmons family:
I am a Smithtown Elementary fourth grade teacher and my heart sinks each time I hear of a loss of any parent in our District, let alone such a devoted husband, father, and firefighter as Mr. Simmons was. Please know that all of the teachers in the District are thinking of you and praying for you at such a difficult time. I, personally, am the mother of boys, ages 10 and 2 yrs. I know the special bond that forms between Dads and boys and how you must be hurting at this time. I will keep you in my thoughts throughout the holidays and the upcoming school year. To the boys, your teachers are here for you . . . always feel free to reach out to them when you're feeling down.

"Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!"
Maureen

When somebody dies, a cloud turns into
an angel, and flies up to tell God
to put another flower on a pillow.
A bird gives the message back to
the world, and sings a silent prayer
that makes the rain cry. People dis-
appear, but they never really go away.
The spirits up there put the sun to
bed, wake up grass, and spin the
earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you
can see them dancing in a cloud during
the day-time, when they're supposed
to be sleeping. They paint the rain-
bows and also the sunsets and make
waves splash and tug at the tide.
They toss shooting stars and listen to
wishes. And when they sing wind-
songs, they whisper to us, don't
miss me too much. The view is nice
and I'm doing just fine.

To the simmons family,
I live just around the block from you and although I havent met you personally I was broken hearted to hear of your loss. There were many times I would drive down the street and see all of you outside and the boys playing with their dad. I wish there were words comforting enough to help ease your pain. Just trust that your husband, dad, son, brother and friend is in Gods care and he will forever be watching over you from heaven. He was obviously a VERY selfless man who loved his family tremendously. Live through all the beautiful memories you have and know that there are countless people praying for you and your family. May Martin rest in eternal peace and may God bless you and your family.
