Jessica Boumans and Wolff Obituary
Now her family is mourning her death.
"Vanessa planned all of it," said her mother, Charlsey Wolff, of the May ceremony. "She had a binder. She did it all, down to the flowers, down to the photographers and disc jockey." Wolff and her friend Jessica Boumans, 23, were killed around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, just a few minutes from home, when another driver sped through a red light at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Palmetto Park Road and crashed into Boumans' black Mercedes.
Wolff, originally from Metairie, La., and Boumans, from New Jersey, died at the scene. Two other women in the car were injured. Leila Storey, 24, of Orlando, suffered a broken leg and minor injuries and Paula Coccia, 23, of Pennsylvania, sustained a shattered pelvis and broken neck. Coccia was in serious condition at Delray Medical Center Sunday afternoon.
Police arrested Edwin Perez, 31, of Boca Raton, hours after the crash. Perez told investigators he ran through the red light in his red Ford Explorer, thinking the signal was for other lanes of traffic, then tried to brake at the last minute, according to a police report.
He also admitted to sharing two pitchers of beer with a friend that night at a local bar, and police said he smelled of alcohol. Neither Perez nor his passenger, Patrick Shelton, reported injuries from the crash.
Perez, who works at a local Wal-Mart, appeared before a judge Sunday morning on charges including DUI manslaughter, reckless driving and killing a fetus. He was held at the county jail on $50,000 bond.
Records show Perez has been charged with DUI before, and has several other traffic violations.
A teacher's assistant at a private school, Wolff enjoyed yoga, the beach and exercising, said her mother. She earned a psychology degree in 2005 from Lynn University. She and Boumans were college roommates, and Boumans was to be bridesmaid in Wolff's wedding.

Almost two years later and I still don't understand this. I hadn't seen Jessica in years, but it haunts me that she is no longer here and that I will never see her again in person. We grew up together. When I think of Jessica, I picture a little girl - always wanting to play. I miss her and think of her family often.

Canyon and I just learned of Jessica's passing. Our prayers are with you all. Jessica was one of the most loveable young ladies at Purnell and was a great friend to Canyon. When I remember Jessica, I will recall her bright smile, her upbeat, positive attitude, and the love she left shared - it was a treasure beyond measure.
Lord, you have taken home a bright star, Jessica Elizabeth, and I pray that Your loving, comforting arms will be the healing salve for the hearts of all her loved ones.

I just found out the devistating news. There just are no words.. Jessica and I met at girl scout camp when we were 11. We were inseperable but lost touch during high school. I have so many beautiful memories that I will cherish. She was the most amazing friend and she will live in my memory forever. My mother tought Jessica at Winston School in NJ and just told me what had happened in October. She told me that Jessica was the hardest working student that she ever tought. Jessica was truly an amazing, strong and intelligent girl. I miss talking to Jessica, and hearing her optomistic and happy voice. She was a wonderful girl and great friend with a very big, pure and good heart.

I only knew Jess for 2 years as our days at The Purnell School wound down. Jess had so much to live for: intellegient, beautiful, witty...But she also lived for so much. I met Jess 3 years ago as well at the Polo Club while she did her internship. We were only acquaintances, but for the short time I knew her I definitely new what a great girl she was, who was so full of life. I met Jesse almost 3 years ago when she did her internship at the Polo Club. We have been close friends ever since. She was an amazing person with a beautiful soul. We used to meet up for lunches and spend hours talking about family, love and life. She was so special. She had such a love for life and her family. I am going to miss Jessica so much, I can't stop thinking about her and all of our good times... from playing when we were little, to camp, the beach, and growing up together, going to the Night Place and concerts... she was the only friend that would go to Ozzfest with me one year, and she hated every minute, but stayed becuase she knew how much I wanted to be there...

Jessica is and always will be one of my best friends. She is such an inspiration to me. she was always there for me and taught me to take the bad with the good and everything will turn out for the best. She was always looking on the brighter side of things. She was my sanity and my heart. I was with her the night this tragic happened and she never looked more beautiful. Jessica had more respect for others and herself than anyone I have ever met. Her parents did an amazing job! I went to high school with Vanessa - everyone knew her. She was very outgoing and friendly. I remember her from P.E. class, she always seemed so energetic and happy (even at first period when no one wanted to do P.E.) and she always had something funny to say to make everyone laugh. Sometimes I wish there were better explanations for things we don't understand. I've been through a similar situation myself, and I'm sorry for your loss. Jessica and I met freshman year of college. Jess was so nice, she always made me and my roomate feel welcome around her. She was nice to everyone she knew.
