Arlene O'Connor Obituary

O'CONNOR, ARLENE A., (FERRO) 70 - of Dennis Township, passed away from surgical complications on October 12, 2008 at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Raised in Upper Darby, she lived in Philadelphia much of her life and Deptford Township for a number of years before moving to Dennis Township in 1999. She graduated Upper Darby High School and the Academy of Culinary Arts of Atlantic Community College. Arlene was a bookkeeper for P. Agnes Builders in Philadelphia before becoming a tax preparer for H&R Block. She was also the financial manager for various businesses her and husband owned and operated over the years. Arlene was a skilled pianist, exceptional cook and had an extraordinary work ethic. Always strong and independent, she had a unique understanding of both the joys and challenges of life. She made happy moments more festive with bigger smiles and louder laughter. And in difficult times when family and friends needed her most, her hand was always warm and her heart was always open. Arlene is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Patrick and survived by her loving son Thomas (T.J.) of Dennis Township, sister Vera Mae Cimino (John) of Egg Harbor Township in addition to numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, a great-niece and three great-nephews. A Mass of Resurrection will be offered Saturday Morning at 10:30 AM from the Church of the Resurrection, 200 West Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, where friends may call from 8:30 AM until 10:15. Burial will follow at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Crest Haven Road in Cape May Court House. In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. To e-mail condolences visit www.godfreyfuneralhome.com

Arlene was a dear friend of ours for many years even thought we did not see each other often when we spoke it felt like yesterday. Butch and I are so glad we got to see and talk to her in the hospital before her surgery. Our prayers are with T.J. and her family. There was only one Arlene and she will be missed.
