Katherine Rohr Obituary

ROHR, SISTER KATHERINE, (SISTER MARY PROTASE), - Sister of Mercy. Sister Katherine (Kitty) died peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung, NJ. Sister was born in Atlantic City and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1931. She received a BS degree in Elementary Education from Georgian Court University, Lakewood, and a M.Ed degree from Villanova University. Through the years, Sister Katherine taught in Catholic elementary and high schools in Trenton, Metuchen, Keyport, Lawrenceville, South Amboy, South Plainfield and Perth Amboy. She was also a Librarian at Union Catholic Regional High School, Scotch Plains, for 10 years. She retired to Saint James Convent in 1992 where she remained for ten years. In 2003, she moved to McAuley Hall Health Care Center where she enjoyed her days in the company of her friends, family and the other Sisters of Mercy. She is survived by her loving brother, Louis Rohr of Naples, FL and her niece Patricia Krisch and her husband Ken of Rego Park, NY. Visitation will take place at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Saint Catherine of Siena Chapel on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 9:30-11:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, MidAtlantic Community, Mount Saint Mary, 1645 Highway 22, Watchung, NJ 07069. Arrangements are by Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung, NJ.
