Harriet Simon Obituary
[1920 – 2007]
Died peacefully Saturday, November 24. She was 87. Harriet had relocated to Albuquerque, NM, in 2004 from her birthplace in Elmira, NY. Harriet was the daughter of Benjamin and Martha Levy and sister to Benjamin Levy, Jr. Harriet graduated from Elmira College, married Bernard Simon in 1942 and settled back in Elmira after various military assignments during World War II. Harriet taught at the George Washington Elementary School for over 20 years and became an active volunteer at the Arnot Ogden Hospital during her retirement. Harriet enjoyed traveling and watching a variety of sports teams, especially the Yankees. She is survived by three daughters, Raye Brass and her husband, Herb of Loveland, OH, Barbara Simon and her partner, Paula Mayhew of NY, NY, and Janet Simon and her husband, Mark Weber of Albuquerque, NM; two granddaughters, Rebecca Brass Gardner and Lizabeth Brass Bakall; and four great- grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elmira College Annual Fund, One Park Place, Elmira, NY 14901-9968.

I Knew Harriet in the last decades of her life. When we first met, she was an avid traveler and had been to more countries than most people dream of. After she moved to Albuquerque, she lived a good life, a life brightened by her daughter, Janet, whose loving care mean everything to her and to all of us.

To Mrs. Simon's Family - Please accept my sincere sympathy. Mrs Simon taught my children at George Washington School in the 70's and we all respected her and remembered her.
