John Gwaltney was my Driver Supervisor who began my career with, "I am your FRIEND". He was most certainly that as I, a woman, entered the male sanctum of the driver's room. He would pop 2 Rolaids when I entered his office. He was fair and he didn't let me say the wrong things to hurt my livelihood.
In short, I will always remember him fondly and that he was a good boss.

He was a good man...and a great boss.
I was one of McLean's 5 women drivers. He called me "a pioneer". I may have responded with, " Huh?"
He was always fair with me. I regret not replacing all the Tums he ate when I entered his office. I have only good memories of this man who started my driving career with his booming voice saying, "I AM YOUR FRIEND."

My deepest sympathy goes out to your family for this untimely loss. May you somehow find peace and comfort through the wonderful memories you hold of John. I worked with John at McLean Trucking Co. He had a heart of gold and was a special friend. My sincere condolences to the family for you are in my thoughts and prayers. Even after all the years that have past, I will always remember him as a great guy and he will surely be missed by many. Hopefully, knowing that you have and will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers, will bring some measure of comfort to you during this difficult time.

Donna, I am saddened to learn of John's passing. Thankfully Judy sent notice to me here in Las Vegas yesterday. We shared many wonderful experiences and have fond memories of our times in Forestdale. That goes back many years. My thoughts are prayers are with you and your family.
