Wade Shepard Johnson Jr.

JOHNSON, Wade Shepard Jr., 91, died October 6, 2008 in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Pine Tops, N.C., he was the son of the late Mary H. and Wade Shepard Johnson Sr. He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Kalber Johnson; and his sister, Minnie Johnson Hill, who passed away this past week. Mr. Johnson proudly served during WWII and in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer-Gunners Mate. He was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church, Franklin and Whaleyville Masonic Lodges, Franklin and Whaleyville Eastern Star, Portsmouth Scottish Rites, Royal Arch of Suffolk, and was a former member of Holy Neck Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Flythe Johnson; daughter, Terri Ann Johnson of Williamsburg; sons, Wade S. Johnson III of Warsaw, Va., Robert W. Johnson of Suffolk, Kenneth T. Johnson of California; granddaughters, Jennifer L. Johnson, Janet L. Johnson, Amy W. Johnson; grandson, Jeffrey W. Johnson; nephews, Roy and Ray Duke; stepchildren, Carter, Katie, Marge; and seven stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m in Holy Neck Christian Church by the Rev. Doland Talbert. Burial with Masonic and military honors will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R. W. Baker & Co.
