MARTIN, Joan Waddell, 75, of Evington, died Thursday, October 2, 2008. Born on July 6, 1933, in Richmond, Joan was the daughter of the late Emma Lambert Waddell and Flavius Archer Waddell. Joan graduated from St. Catherine's School and attended Mary Washington College. She loved her church, Rustburg Presbyterian, was devoted to helping with R.E.A.P. (Rural Emergency Assistance Program), and was a faithful volunteer with the Campbell County Litter Commission. She was a beloved and devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Frank; two daughters, Pamela H. Hunter and Patricia H. Bowler and her husband, James, of Richmond; a stepdaughter, Teresa A. Martin, of Wilmington, Del.; a stepson, Dennis F. Martin and his wife, Melissa, of Wilmington, Del.; a granddaughter, Ryan E. Campbell, of Richmond; and many special friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kathy Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial contributions may be sent to Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation, P.O.
